When you listen you learn and listening gives you the opportunity to understand your clients needs and it helps them discover " GREATNESS WITHIN" (Les Brown). It also allows you to distinguish between your clients emotional voices (scared, tired, happy, sad) so you may best support them on your journey.

If we foster the ability to self regulate and use a higher wisdom rather than an emotional low vibrational reaction , it will always help us remain conscious and effective in our connections and communication with others.

One thing I have learned in over three decades of coaching students from over twenty countries worldwide is this : always speak in the language of the student. Once you connect with them and meet them where they are at, you can start to educate them on the more correct language according to the techniques you are teaching them. Even though there are a myriad of technical jargon we use to describe the vocal processes, this high level scientific language may not be necessary to teach every student. Find out how they like to learn and how much detail they need to commit the information to muscle memory. Sometimes simple is best.

To add a few more elements regarding body language and building rapport , what has not been mentioned here is tonality, volume and energy levels. In music therapy we are taught to match the energy and tonality of the client too as they walk in to make them feel comfortable and welcomed. Over the session however we can use the principle of entrainment to raise their energy, tonality and vibration to bring them to a different level of being. This works really well with coaches who are skilled at tuning in to what their students need. Listen. Watch. Feel. Gauge. It’s not hard but we need to keep an open mind and open heart to allow the deepest connections to happen.
