I would recommend to read the interviewer. If you get a person that is hyper logical and transactional showcasing your passion too much may be a turn off. Pay attention and understand the profile of your interviewer.

I think bring very specific about why you’re attracted to the job it’s important, as long as it’s authentic. Bring you and being real is just important.

When you showcase passion for the role, make sure it's a balanced approach, meaning include passion around your skillset match for the role, areas where it may be a stretch for you (and that you are looking forward to applying yourself toward those) AND what history you have that could benefit the company and state how that can be accomplished. I would also add, that if you have experience in your history that doesn't align with the role, or if there's something in the role where you have no experience, before the interview, think of your past roles as skills and not job tasks and figure out a way that those skills can meet the needs of the role.

I really don’t think telling a company that this is a long term place for you to grow is really going to get you anywhere. It’s about alignment and contribution you can make to the company and helping the company grow.

While tailoring your skills to the company is fine, it’s not really authentic. It’s critical to remember that this is not just about the company, rather what you can do with your experience there. It’s important to not come across desperate to work there.

In my client engagements, we always focus on value and impact at the root of our explorations, whatever the topic. Whether promotions, salary reviews, interviews, performance etc. The same applies here. Every client I work with ends up producing a "success log" which is their arsenal of facts about how they have delivered value. In this case, drawing on that arsenal of value with relevant initiatives or projects helps to amplify your case.

We cannot predict future, but we can show commitment to it. Being open to learn and adapt will provide a sense of engagement, and will leave a good impression. Sometimes people focus the interview on past results, but it is great when the person shows interest to build the company to be.
