Here's how you can effectively follow up after a trade show interview.

Don't let them go before asking these questions: 1. When would you like me to follow up with you? Some of them need a well-deserved break right after the show or might be OOO and you won't know until you ask 2. Are you the right person to speak to regarding XXX? Don't waste their time or yours if they are not the right person or 'people' that you need to get in front of 3. How would you like me to follow up? Email? Phone? Text? The method of follow-up is not always email. And... No one ever asks this question, but try it next time: What will you remember from our conversation? Was there something I helped you with during our time together, or did I miss something? And then... Use that answer in your email subject line. Boom. 💥

What is helpful for me that I hold all appointments in a note keeping template/ taking down relevant meeting notes as the meetings take place - with actions column. This makes it easier as I prefer to drop emails literally from my flight so by the time I land I have nothing to worry about! Everything is fresh! I find that the personal touch also comes from the way a company design's its very thought through giveaways during a Tradeshow - not something that they will trash on their way out of the show- but something that is useful they can reuse or has a sustainable element to it. Do not splatter company logos all over as how many coffee mugs can one have with corporate logos? Can we please keep logos subtle?

Don’t try to do this with everyone. Pick a top ten that aligns best with your targeting. Less is more with this approach. If you try do this with everyone, you’ll only have an average success rate.
