As a tradeshow manager the relationships that I built have helped me build my company. Vendors, past co-workers, other exhibitor managers, the list goes on. Without these relationships in general we cannot do our jobs to the best we can. It takes a village. As tradeshow managers our job is to make the tradeshow interactive and help give a reason for attendees to keep coming back. Our companies may be competing for the attendees, but as exhibit managers we need to work together for a show that is interesting enough for the attendees to get off their laptops and walk the show floor to find the answers to their questions.

In my experience after attending hundreds of conferences in different verticles, if you and your Marketing, Sales teams and BDR's/SDR's are not doing pre-show planning then do not expect to succeed. Some keys: 1- Always start 2-3 months before your conference branding your company and what you plan to release at the conference. 2 - Hit the phones, DO NOT Spam emails as they must be targeted and personal. 3 - Have your sales team use the conference to invite their prospects to visit the booth, meet leadership, and enable them to get the TLC from the team attending. 4 - Socialize with your prospects after each day of the conference, show them you care but build a a deeper personal relationship with them

In my opinion, A well- executed trade show is invaluable to both the exhibitors and the attendees. The knowledge gained, networking, learning about new products and really taking a deep dive into your industry is an energy boost mentally. It sparks a fire that lasts beyond the trade show floor.

In scientific/quantitative fields where technology advances or existing technology is applied in new ways, tradeshows are often a place to view, participate, and help shape trends. Sessions debating subjects can put on display both the underlying zeitgeist as well as reveal the aspirational directions that lead to new product development areas. They can also help reveal the degree of tension/desire for change and identify change agents within a market.

Trade shows are excellent opportunities for learning. Evaluate the knowledge you gained from attending workshops, seminars, and panel discussions. Even more-so if you conduct a speech yourself. Oftentimes, you will also see the added benefit of being mentioned in post and pre-event messages and printouts. The Key Benefit in this comes down to on thing: Exposure (and you can never have too much of this).
