I believe people don’t do something for three reasons: They don’t understand the value. They lack the knowledge. They fear failure and blame. If they don’t see the value of testing, I explain its benefits from both a process perspective (less wait, less waste) and a pride perspective (doing quality work is rewarding). If they lack knowledge, I or fellow QA engineers provide training and share our experience. If they fear blame, I examine the culture. If there is a strong blame culture, it needs to change. If the culture is fine but developers are inexperienced, QA engineers can pair with and guide them.
