Review the software and systems that are used to manage logistics operations, such as enterprise resource planning (ERP), warehouse management systems (WMS), transportation management systems (TMS), and logistics dashboards. Being prepared will help you avoid confusion, mistakes, and embarrassment during your internship.

2 Poor communication

Communication is essential for logistics management, as it involves coordinating with multiple stakeholders, such as suppliers, carriers, warehouse staff, customers, and managers. As a logistics management intern, you’ll need to communicate clearly, effectively, and professionally, both verbally and in writing. You’ll also need to listen actively, ask questions, and provide feedback. Avoid being careless, sloppy, or negligent. Lack of attention to detail can result in waste, loss, damage, or liability.

Logistics management is a competitive and demanding field, where professionalism is expected and respected. As a logistics management intern, you’ll need to behave professionally, by respecting the rules and policies of the organization, meeting the expectations and deadlines of your supervisors, collaborating and cooperating with your colleagues, and delivering value and quality to your customers. Avoid being unprofessional, by breaking the rules or norms, missing or being late for appointments, arguing or complaining, and compromising the reputation or performance of the organization.
