Draw a line between your personal and professional presence. LinkedIn is a professional space, so limit personal posts, and avoid controversial/sensitive topics. If you wouldn't say it in the office, don't post it here. It may make sense to have distinct work/personal accounts elsewhere. Curate posts on a work profile strictly. One negative impression can have long-lasting impact. Post as though you're sending a firm-wide email. Clients can become friends, but don't add people to your personal profile unless you would spend time with them on a weekend. If a client asks to connect to your personal account, tell them that you limit that account to a small group of close friends and family, and don't send invites to clients from that account.
