What do you do if feedback and criticism blur in R&D projects?

Embracing nuance is founded on building mutual trust with your colleagues in the lab or your supervisor. Whenever I receive criticism or feedback, I take some time to reflect on it and figure out how to navigate it. Most of the time, there is atleast some positive aspect to be implemented. It’s all about perspectives. A research project is always collaborative. Therefore, if a team member points out something, it's best to consider it carefully before discarding it as meaningless/personal. I perform a pros and cons analysis and a SWOT analysis on every piece of feedback I receive. Additionally, I note how the intonation and the comment made me feel, which I reflect on and add to my dos and don'ts for similar situations in the future.

R&D processes by it's nature is the continuous improvement towards refining till the achievement of design goal. The systematically thought out R&D processess has to pass through feedback and criticism.Genuine interest of CFT members and interested parties on project progress cannot be ruled out. Feedback received should be recorded and thoroughly analysed for possible improvement. CFT team can be clarified on the nature of feedback, action taken and project status. This builds the confidence on the project progress. Constructive suggestions and advice from critics can be appreciated and gratefuly acknowledged . The team should be encouraged to be positive and confident on project outcome without yielding to such criticisms.
