However, who you know can carry you to through the universe.

Attending conferences and seminars can help you become a better engineering manager by giving you the chance to network with colleagues, learn from industry leaders, and remain current on trends and technology. Take part in interactive workshops to acquire real-world experience and return to your team with creative ideas.

Take responsibility for your own learning and career development. Don't let training budgets hold you back. Invest in your own learning and development. When researching workshops and conferences, focus on building skills that will make you a better leader. Don't limit yourself to technical skills; prioritise developing human skills as well.

Learning trends are the evolution and expansion of any entity. As technology and methodologies adapt to a better way of doing, being and having, eventually staying competitive will evolve with being collaborative. As we learn how to be more collaborative, this will give everyone their season to blossom in their expertise. Take for example the human body and it's organized functioning; each cell, membrane and organ works and collaborates with each other. The lungs are not attempting to outdue the heart, nor is the stomach trying to outwit the rest of the digestive system. That will be total chaos and we would soon cease to exist. Eventually we shall get there. Meanwhile, with all the gatherings we should take advantage of the new data.

One can get more milage out of a happy healthy horse vs. a sad, stressed and over burdened horse. When we as people can come together and learn better methods of self re-engineering, self confidence and maximized people skills, then we can better learn project management, corporate utilization and technology to work smarter vs. working harder. With limited budgets and limited staffing, it is paramount to utilize learning new skills, technology, AI, adding practicality to the equation to move forward in this new era of businesses and services.

Even before my first job as an engineer I was able to attend industry conferences and I’ve been doing so since then (i.g.: Brazilian Oil and Gas, Rio Oil and Gas, OTC, Marintec, etc...).The goal always was and continue being to nurture industry relationships as they can be a continuous source of opportunities to evolve as professional and build a personal branding.
