Inclusive language is the most readily available tool we have to work with diverse perspectives. However, as we do with softwares on our phones and computers, our language needs constant, intentional updating to keep us running efficiently. Phrases or terms that were at one point the preferred, respectful way to say something may have since been replaced with other, better terms. Tuning into, understanding, and using these updates begins to foster comfortable communication. If you're unsure of the correct inclusive language, ask those around you if they have preferred terms or phrases that you might not have learned yet. You might learn inclusive language by actually including others in your learning.
