Constantly seek ways to be more productive! Reliance on travel, conferences, and networking to identify and evaluate deal flow is highly time-consuming and only semi-productive. Technology offers VC an unprecedented opportunity to be far more proactive and predictive in the early stages of deal evaluation, thus freeing up time to focus on higher-value activities.

Prioritization is everything. And it can evolve daily. Sometimes I see people afraid to ask clarification on priorities. But it’s so important to align on the goals that you have and how you are going to execute them. If you don’t align, there can be things that you are doing that you assume are important but may be less mission critical than you think. Knowing how to provide timely updates so that you can get ongoing feedback about prioritization is important. Once you master this skill, it shows others in your organization that they can hand you important and time sensitive tasks. This usually allows you to jump ahead in your career faster than others.
