In my experience, It is essential to set the acceptance criterion first hand before starting to test anything. When I have a concret end goal, only then I can follow through my test efforts which now have a purpose to serve. A certain level of coverage that meet all the necessary paths or cases of a software is the ultimate goal for testing a software. Without any concret acceptance criterion, it is hard to reach at an unknown port.

The first step in assessing software testing techniques is to define the goals of the testing process. These goals can include: 1) Ensuring software quality and reliability. 2) Identifying and fixing bugs. 3) Verifying that the software meets user requirements. 4) Measuring the performance and scalability of the software.

For better testing assess, apply the testing techniques to real-world projects and analyze the results and for better testing assess, use simulations to model and analyze the behavior of testing techniques in different scenarios without the need for real-world execution. One thing that I have found helpful throughout my career that if there is no concret performance metrics, it kind of testing in dark. You never know what to expect or where to get. A software or for an example an API needs to have certain performance metrics such as a fixed range of response time, latency, throughput and error rate. Whenever I have these metrics set beforehand it is easier to perform the test because now I know what is to pass and what to fail. An effective metrics can certainly eradicate a premature breakdown of the software product before going to live.

One time during testing into a product, a small bug leaked to the production server. One of the client actually experienced it and reported back. From that point of time, I understood that it is vital to have some feedback loop to get the furthermost corner cases revealed so that we can go much closer to total coverage during test phase. According to the principle of software testing, 100% testing impossible. So there will be some defects or error that will certainly miss our eyes. But where there is some feedback system from end users, it is much more difficult to not notice those corners which may have been missed during testing. We can also analyze the feedbacks for further improvements as those might not be supported in the software.
