Job Description

The Media and Communications Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the media and communications team in various tasks related to public relations, marketing, and communications. This position involves assisting in the creation of content, managing social media channels, coordinating events, and maintaining media databases.

Key Responsibilities:

PR

  • Assist in developing the Global PR strategy for De Beers Jewellers.
  • Support announcements, product launches and communications by assisting with the creation of PR toolkits, including Press Releases, messaging documents, trend-based newsletters.
  • Help disseminate these to the regional PR Teams and relevant internal Head Office Teams.
  • Work cross functionally to ensure consistent brand voice, style and messaging across all channels, help review and update existing PR messaging, assets and materials.
  • Work closely with regional PR network, ensuring they are fully immersed in the Company’s strategy, messaging and globally relevant communications; encourage cross collaboration to understand their plans and be able to support the local needs.

Social Media Management

  • Manage and schedule posts on various social media platforms including Instagram and Linkedin.
  • Monitor social media channels for engagement, respond to comments and escalate where necessary.
  • Research and implement social media best practice to increase reach and engagement
  • Coordinate alignment and content sharing between Head Office and China Team.

Media

  • Provide support in the media strategy, collaborating with markets to ensure execution of media plans at a local level
  • Provide input to the brand & content team to develop assets that align with media best practices which will drive performance and value to DBJ.

Events

  • Assist in planning and coordinating events such as De Beers High Jewellery events, product launches, and media briefings.
  • Provide on-site support during evens as needed.

VIP & Influencers

  • Support talent and influencer activities, either led centrally and by the markets.
  • Co-ordinate jewellery loans for centrally driven influencer and celebrity dressing opportunities.
  • Update the Global celebrity and influencer tracker on Teams in conjunction with the Global PR network.
  • Assist in the execution of product gifting projects, including overseeing gifting send-outs, gifting forms and tracking results.

Content Creation

  • Assist with copywriting needs: receiving briefs, writing or briefing copywriter, editing and reviewing content for various channels including press releases, client emails, and social media posts.

Report, Research and Analysis

  • Conduct research on industry trends, competitor activities, and audience preferences.
  • Own and maintain PR monitoring systems. Main point of contact for reporting and analytics, working with the market PR teams and agencies on reports across media, editorial coverage, influencer, social media and gifting among others.
  • Provide regular reports and insights to the wider team.
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining the global PR calendar and for informing internal comms and other teams of relevant Comms & PR activities.
  • Handle general administrative tasks as required.

Qualifications

  • Degree / qualification in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or relevant field.
  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Experience within a similar industry is a plus.
  • Ability to problem solve with information at their disposal.
  • Understands own role in relation to the team and how it contributes.
  • Ability to manage internal stakeholders to achieve objective.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in social media management tools and analytics platforms
  • Familiarity with media monitoring tools and techniques.
  • Knowledge of basic graphic design tools is a plus.
  • Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
  • Work self-sufficiently with great attention to detail.
