About The Job

As a Building Support Assistant, you will work closely with the Technical Management team, technicians, and craftsmen to ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of engineering plant and equipment. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Undertaking planned maintenance and reactive repairs, following established procedures and documentation guidelines
  • Performing ductwork cleaning, lamp and tube replacement, and general cleaning of plant rooms and equipment
  • Adhering to safety measures and protocols while working in high-risk and challenging areas
  • Ensuring timely completion of assigned tasks, even if it requires working outside of designated hours
  • Providing cover for shift and holiday requirements as needed

Success Profile

  • Recognised industry training (NVQ's - technical task specific) and health and safety certification
  • Experience working within a building services maintenance environment
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency in IT skills
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines in a demanding environment

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Scottish Health Technical Memorandums (SHTM's) and relevant legislation in collaboration with supervisors and technicians
  • Manage workload and take responsibility for Building Support Assistants, ensuring efficient resource allocation
  • Perform competent-based technical tasks, including Legionella remedial works, philtre changes, and light fitting replacements
  • Comply with safety measures in hazardous areas to prevent danger and equipment damage
  • Actively participate in engineering planned preventative maintenance schemes
  • Complete paperwork, work orders, and logbooks accurately using the Computer Aid Facilities Management (CAFM) system
  • Carry out emergency repairs and essential maintenance activities as directed
  • Communicate plant or equipment failures and observations to supervisors
  • Assist technicians and craftsmen with diagnostic fault finding and repair
  • Conduct unsupervised planned preventative maintenance (PPM) inspections and tasks where safe and appropriate
  • Escort contractors as required
  • Ensure compliance with permit to work systems and maintenance manuals
  • Use relevant tools and equipment safely for completing assigned work
  • Communicate any outstanding or required works to colleagues

Essential Skills And Qualifications
