Our Head of Professional Training, Chris Oliver speaks about the collaborative efforts in closing the skills gap in the jewellery and silversmithing industry and his involvement with Aston University Engineering Academy (AUEA) in Birmingham. "One of the first recipients of the Landmark Grant by The Goldsmiths' Company Charity is Aston University Engineering Academy (AUEA) in Birmingham. It has been awarded £500,000 to fund the opening of the Goldsmiths’ Institute, a new jewellery training hub that will offer skills- and design-based learning for school students in year nine to sixth form (ages 13/14 to 17/18). AUEA Goldsmiths’ Institute represents The Goldsmiths’ Company Charity’s largest investment in jewellery industry training since the opening of the £17.5mn Goldsmiths’ Centre in London in 2012." - FT Thank you Rachael Taylor and Financial Times

We recently partnered with the fantastic local social enterprise, Mer-IT Digital @meritorg , to give our old and broken PCs a second life. Instead of sending them to landfill, we donated them to Mer-IT, where they're being used to train people in hardware and software skills. Not only does this help reduce digital waste, but it also supports vocational training in our community—something we're passionate about at the Goldsmiths' Centre. We're proud that our e-waste contributes to a more sustainable future and empowers others through quality education. #TheGoldsmithsCentre #Sustainability #EwasteReduction #CommunitySupport #DigitalSkills #VocationalTraining #ResponsibleConsumption #RecycleReuse #GoldsmithsCentre #SocialEnterprise #UNSDGs

Lucy Anderson's @lucy_k_anderson earring series made for Peggy Guggenheim: Petersfield to Palazzo exhibition is currently on show at @petersfieldmuseum Peggy Guggenheim's style mirrored her remarkable life and the artists and designers she knew. She was fabulously eclectic in her taste, wearing Elsa Schiaparelli dresses, statement sunglasses and earrings made especially for her by artists Yves Tanguy and Alexander Calder. In addition to art, Guggenheim also collected earrings, which she bought on her travels and displayed on her bedroom wall. Complementing the fashion collection, artist and jeweller Lucy Anderson has made a series of statement earrings, each inspired by an artwork in the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. Lucy, congratulations on working with Petersfield Museum on this incredible exhibition. It was stunning! Lucy is one of Shine 2024 participants and you can meet her, see and purchase her work during Shine 2024 pop-up on the 18th September. To attend, please RSVP via the link in the bio. #PeggyGuggenheim #PetersfieldMuseum #LucyAnderson #Shine2024 https://lnkd.in/dX8kCWtK
