In the U.S. alone, over 18.6 million people have disabilities that limit their ability to travel. Among these individuals, #neurodivergent adults—those whose neurological development and state are atypical, such as people with #autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other conditions—face unique hurdles. In my new ForbesWomen article, I share how the need for accessible travel options is more pressing than ever. Read here ✈️ ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eBzRh7WX Thank you to Mark Vondrasek of Hyatt Hotels Corporation, Holly Bland of Pitchup.com and Srin Madipalli of Accomable for their insight and efforts. As a parent who likes to travel, it means so much to have the industry find ways to accommodate my autistic son. ❤️

The outdoors should be for everyone, but sadly our industry is falling short. We commissioned a survey of 2,000 disabled people, in collaboration with disability-led inclusive marketing agency Purple Goat Agency, and found that: - 44% of respondents who partake in outdoor holidays encounter accessibility issues - 50% of disabled people opt out of outdoor holidays altogether, believing them to be inaccessible by nature - 83% of respondents who have never taken an outdoor holiday say that accessibility concerns are a significant factor But we also found that there is a huge opportunity: - There are significant satisfaction rates with accessibility amongst those who do partake in outdoor travel (75%) - Of those who don’t currently go on outdoor holidays, 51% said they were tempted by the appeal of connecting to nature, 48% by the tranquillity and escape it provides and 47% by the affordability of this type of holiday Read the full report: https://lnkd.in/ewJXWKYN The UK is home to one of the highest proportions of people with accessibility needs relative to population size, and the Purple Pound contributes significantly to UK tourism (£14.6 billion in 2018 according to VisitBritain). The opportunity is clear. It’s time to empower disabled travellers with comprehensive information and the freedom to book accommodation that meets their individual needs. Here’s what we’ve implemented so far: - New accessibility filters for overall site access like well-lit paths and accessible parking as well as specific unit features like wheelchair-accessible bathrooms and step-free access  - Site managers can now upload photos and provide additional information about each accessible feature - We’ve developed a guide for site managers on how to make their site more accessible: https://lnkd.in/ekbmjD7W  - Since we realise that a holiday is as much about the surrounding area as the accommodation, we’ve also created guides on the best accessible days out and things to do in top locations (for example our Accessible Lake District guide: https://lnkd.in/eEYy4YMi) But this is just the beginning. We’re constantly learning and evolving based on feedback and will continue to work towards providing greater access to the outdoors for all.

✨ Introducing our new website ✨ We’re delighted to announce the launch of our new website! The site has a fully updated look and feel, works more smoothly, and most importantly generates more bookings. Our goal was to reimagine the efficient search and booking process of our old site in a slicker package, providing a better user experience. We’ve also added a brand-new map-based search enabling users to update their search results automatically as they explore the map 🗺️ https://lnkd.in/eMdcCeSa A round of applause for our development, translation and data teams that have worked so hard on this project 👏 #newwebsite #productlaunch #webdesign

Have you ever been for a cold plunge? 🥶🥶 Dunking into ice-cold water may not be for everyone, but it is making a splash as one of this year’s biggest wellness trends. Cold plunging, or cold water therapy, involves taking a dip in water at temperatures below 15°C. It may not be the most comfortable activity, but it can work wonders for your mood and health by reducing inflammation and giving a boost of endorphins. We spoke to Vogue about the recent rise in campsites offering cold plunge wellness experiences on Pitchup. Are you a camper or a glamper? When we tell people what we do, often the first thing they tell us is which ‘camp’ they’re in: “I love camping, the more wild the better” “Oh no, I’m more of a glamper” “I’m a camper, but the Mrs. is definitely a glamper” Actually, it turns out most people are both. Our research has found that over 25,000 customers have booked fixed accommodation (e.g pods, cabins, huts) following an initial booking for camping/touring. And over 50,000 book both fixed accommodation and camping/touring. That’s why if you have a glamping or camping business, only marketing it on specialist websites could be a big mistake. You’d be losing out on all those “switch” customers (which is a surprising amount of the market). Equally, if you’re an adamant camper or glamper - maybe this is your sign to try another style of holiday! #camping #glamping #travel #traveltrends #campingbusiness #glampingbusiness #marketing #research
