We are pleased to announce that Nestlé Purina PetCare Europe has joined NoMaRe - Norwegian Marine Restoration as a founding member to help facilitate large-scale marine restoration in Norway 🌊   What is NoMaRe? NoMaRe is a collaborative platform aimed at facilitating the development and scaling of marine restoration solutions in Norway. The platform aims to achieve this through advocacy efforts, industry collaboration and implementing practical restoration trials. Initially, the platform will focus on restoring kelp forests (as photographed below by Jonas Legernes) across 5,000 km² of Northern Norway by removing excess sea urchins.    Why do kelp forests need to be restored?  They are a critical ecosystem which support marine biodiversity and can sequester large amounts of carbon. 60% of global kelp forests have disappeared in recent decades due to human activities and as a result of being overgrazed by excess sea urchins, after their natural predators diminished significantly.    What is Purina’s role? We’re excited to be one of the founding members, alongside Bellona, Urchinomics, Tarevoktere and IFF to help build the knowledge and engagement required to achieve large-scale marine restoration in Norway. Summer is here and it’s the perfect time to teach your dog how to swim! 🌞 🐾 While many dogs can paddle, others might need a little nudge to dip their paws in. With a little patience and the right approach, every dog can become a confident swimmer. 🤿 Here’s a simple guide to help pet parents: 1. Start slow: Gently lead the dog into shallow water, allowing them to splash around and get comfortable. 2. Deepen gradually: Once they seem comfortable, lead them into deeper water while staying beside them. 3. Paddle power: Their first instinct will be to paddle with their front legs. Encourage them to use their back legs, so they don't tire quickly. 4. Full-body movement: Ensure your dog is entirely in the water, holding them around the belly. This will help them kick with their back legs too. 5. Take your time: If your dog seems scared or anxious, return to the shore, offer treats and only return when the dog is ready. 6. Patience and fun: This should be a fun experience for the dog. Patience is key!
