Why talking about money matters: The key to financial wellness 💬 Money is a common source of stress for many people and yet discussing it remains taboo for many. According to Klarna, 32% of Brits feel uncomfortable talking about money with loved ones, even though 44% regularly worry about it. Similarly, a survey by The Open University highlights that avoiding these conversations can lead to not only personal difficulties but also strained relationships. 💬 Why it matters Talking about money not only helps to alleviate stress but also builds trust and strengthens relationships. By breaking down these barriers, you can gain a greater sense of control over your finances, make better-informed decisions and ultimately improve your financial wellbeing. 💬 The pitfalls of silence The difficulty is, that when uncomfortable conversations are avoided, it can lead to increased stress and anxiety. This lack of communication when it comes to finances can lead to misunderstandings about shared expenses, missed opportunities for financial growth, and ultimately harm not only your relationships but also your personal financial health. 💬 Speaking up Whether it's with a trusted friend, your partner or a family member, having an open discussion about money with someone you trust is an important life skill to learn. Once you’ve mastered it, you’ll be on your way to feeling more confident, building deeper connections, and enjoying a happier, healthier relationship with money. At Loqbox, we believe that financial wellness begins with a conversation. By empowering individuals to talk openly about their finances, we can help them build a brighter financial future 💜

Marking National Savings Week, Loqbox data featured in FF News | Fintech Finance highlights a ‘soft savings trend’ particularly prevalent among young people and reveals a fascinating divide between how men and women approach their savings goals.💡 The survey, conducted in partnership with Censuswide, involved over 1,000 UK respondents, showing that many prioritise current lifestyle goals in the short term rather than traditional savings goals, such as saving for a home and retirement planning. While both men and women value long-term financial stability, their motivations for saving differ: 🔹 Women are more focused on financial security in both the short and long term, with their savings goals centred around: ●Building an emergency fund for peace of mind ●Paying off debt to free up future finances ●Saving for a home to achieve stability 🔹 Men, on the other hand, are more likely to prioritise: lifestyle-driven short-term goals, including: ●Booking holidays for experiences ●Purchasing vehicles for convenience or enjoyment When it comes to the long-term, both men and women share a common focus on retirement planning—though women tend to address more immediate financial concerns like debt and emergencies first. Here’s what our Co-CEO and Co-founder Thomas Eyre says: “As the cost-of-living crisis continues to impact UK households, our proprietary data unveils some interesting attitudes towards savings. For example, the soft saving trend shows that many people are choosing to have a better quality of life today than extra money in the bank for financial security tomorrow. This year’s National Savings Week is the ideal time to highlight the benefits of saving, and to help people achieve financial resilience by building an emergency savings buffer.” At Loqbox, we're committed to helping everyone reach their financial goals—whether that's building a safety net, buying a home, or planning for the future. Our tools are designed to support a variety of savings needs, no matter the motivation. 💜🌱 https://lnkd.in/e2cYPHZa

According to Moneybox, 64% of UK adults believe they've missed out on financial opportunities in life. At Loqbox, we’re here to empower people to achieve their goals by giving them access to the tools and the knowledge they need to improve their personal relationships with money. But, this #NationalFinancialAwarenessDay, we also want to shine a light on the changes people want to see in the wider UK financial landscape in 2024. 3,000 Loqbox members responded to our survey in June, sharing their hopes ahead of the General Election: 📊 24% want to see changes to tax policy. Their thoughts on this topic were quite wide-ranging. Opinions were divided on whether they wanted to see tax reduced across the board, or vice versa increased for high earners and large corporations. 📊20% hope to see a better quality of life through a reduction in living costs, including bills. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the #CostOfLivingCrisis was a hot topic, with our members hoping to see utility bills, food costs, transport costs and housing costs become more affordable in future. 📊17% want to see improvements to employment and wages. Opinions were more unified in this area. Respondents hoped to see wages increase in line with inflation — some mentioned the potential benefits of introducing a real #LivingWage — with a particular focus on improvements for healthcare workers. 📊14% want to see more support for those who need it. Our members mentioned issues like childcare, and more support for groups including low-income families, those who are new to the UK, those with health issues and first-time buyers. Do you know how your customers are feeling about the UK financial landscape?

“Keeping focus on your mission is essential. If your focus gets broken, then you don’t make optimal decisions. The ability to tell stories and communicate with people in a way that they understand is a good way to bring people on a journey with you and get them to instinctively be in the moment with you.” Our Co-CEOs and Co-founders, Gregor Mowat and Thomas Eyre recently sat down with Authority Magazine’s Douglas Noll to talk about how to be a highly effective leader in the fintech space. At Loqbox, we put our mission to help give everyone access to a richer life at the forefront of everything we do and so do our leaders. It’s part of what makes working for a mission-led business so special. They also touched on how to manage the ever-changing nature of fintech, our member-focussed approach and the value of experimentation.
