🌍 Intertek Partners with the Government of the DRC for the Eco-Levy Programme 🇨🇩 We are excited to announce that Intertek has been exclusively appointed by the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to support their Eco-Levy Programme. As the sole Conformity Assessment Body (CAB), Intertek will manage the collection of the Eco-Levy and issue Eco-Certificates for all regulated products entering the DRC, supporting the country’s efforts in e-waste management and sustainable development. ♻️ The Eco-Levy Programme is a self-funded initiative that includes assessment and inspection processes to ensure compliance and the proper recycling of goods such as electrical and electronic products, tyres, and medical equipment. Starting 26th August 2024, all exporters to the DRC must provide an Eco-Certificate, issued exclusively by Intertek, to ensure smooth customs clearance. 🔍 Intertek will conduct risk-based assessments to determine the need for pre-shipment inspections, confirming that products are not waste or scrap before issuing an Eco-Certificate for compliant shipments. 🌱 Intertek is proud to contribute to the DRC's environmental goals and support sustainable development across Africa. At Intertek we are a force for good and we recognise that saving the future of our planet is mission critical. Sustainability is the movement of our time and the race to Net Zero is real. As such, we take the delivery of our Net Zero targets very seriously. Today I am pleased to announce that in the first six months of the year, we reduced our Net Zero emissions by 13.5%, after having lowered our CO2 emissions by 36.7% between 2019 and 2023. Importantly, we are leading the world when it comes to green electricity, sourcing 54% of our consumption from renewables, which is much better than the world currently at 30%. Leading the world by example on the race to Net Zero is what being a force for good is all about. Congratulations to all my colleagues for their commitment to reducing our CO2 emissions while accelerating the growth of Intertek.
