  • 🎯 What has Insurance Post's 2024 census shown us about Diversity in the UK insurance industry? We were proud to take part in the 2024 Census, which was an online survey that paintes a picture of how the sector is shaping up when it comes to diversity, plus what extra effort is required to make the industry more inclusive. Insurance Post's 2024 Census shows a decade on from the launch of Lloyd’s diversity and inclusion festival Dive In and the inaugural Insurance Post Census, the Census shows the make-up of the insurance industry continues to be dominated by white faces, but the sector’s overall gender split has improved. Although women are beginning to smash through the industry's glass ceiling, when it comes to ethnicity, the insurance industry continues to fail to reflect the make-up of the UK today. The census features: ⭐ Johnny Timpson OBE, former Cabinet Office Disability and Access Ambassador ⭐ Ajay Mistry ACMA, Co-Founder & Co-Chair of iCAN: The Insurance Cultural Awareness Network and Founder of Gambit Partners and Mode InsuranceCarmen Powell, Managing Director of ISC GroupLiisa Antola, Senior Policy Advisor, Association of British InsurersMatt Connell, Director of Policy and Public Affairs, Chartered Insurance Institute 🗣️ Ajay Mistry, Co-Founder of iCAN, shares in the 2024 census: "As an industry we always focus on the negative side of diversity, equity and inclusion, but there are some true successes within firms that aren't discussed enough I look at firms like Aon, CNA Hardy, Aviva, etc. There are some very strong ethnic/female leaders, and we need to look at why they did well and how their story can help others. Learning from each other, other industries and taking the best practice will make a huge difference. Senior leaders need to start walking the walk as well as talking the talk." 📙 To read the full Census report from Insurance Post, visit here: https://lnkd.in/eJDMXpvv 🔔 Stay tuned to iCAN: The Insurance Cultural Awareness Network for the latest news and updates. 📌 Become an iCAN member here: https://lnkd.in/eWEXEnns Emma Ann Hughes / Chris Wade / Chris Finnegan #insurance #dei #diversity #network #ERG

  • 🏆 An inspiring session with Starr Insurance’s Stuart Scott! This week, we had an insightful and dynamic session with Stuart Scott, Chief Executive Officer of London and European Operations at Starr Insurance, as part of our "Coffee with the CEO" initiative. Stuart shared invaluable career insights, personal anecdotes, and actionable advice that left our iCAN members inspired and empowered. ☕ What is “Coffee with the CEO”? ☕ Our "Coffee with the CEO" series provides iCAN members with direct access to senior leaders across the insurance industry. These intimate sessions, hosted in collaboration with our sponsors and partners, cover career advice, personal journeys, industry trends, and more. The goal is to empower attendees with actionable insights to boost their own career paths. In this latest session with Stuart, members had the opportunity to connect in person and hear his perspective on the key ingredients for a successful career. iCAN Digital Marketing Associate Josh Dumelow shares key takeaways: 🔑 Leverage the power of networks According to Stuart, professional networks can provide critical support and advice at various stages of your career. These networks give you access to people you wouldn’t meet in your day-to-day work, offering fresh perspectives and guidance on navigating new situations. 🔑 The value of mentorship, formal and informal Stuart stressed the importance of mentorship, even in informal settings. Surrounding yourself with people you admire and consider mentors can provide crucial insights. He also spoke about the benefits of reverse mentoring, where both the mentor and mentee can learn from each other. 🔑 The evolving role of AI in insurance While AI adoption won’t happen overnight, he believes its value will come from driving productivity and efficiency. As data governance improves, AI’s potential will become clearer, but its implementation should be tied to tangible improvements, like time-saving and resource optimisation. A huge thank you to Stuart and our sponsor Starr Insurance for an inspiring session! 🔔 Follow iCAN Apply - The Insurance Cultural Awareness Network Jobs Board: The Insurance Cultural Awareness Network and stay tuned for more updates and events. 📌 Sign up to become an iCAN member here: https://lnkd.in/eWEXEnns Natalie Pitman // Jo Pickup // Hannah Opadiran // Echaunti Swan #DEI #icaninspire #careerdevelopment #coffeewiththeCEO
