Today I had the privilege of sharing HSBC’s quarterly financial results with the market for the 21st and final time before I step down as Group Chief Executive in September. The strong set of numbers we’ve released is a reflection of my colleagues’ hard work – not just in the first half of this year, but over the last five years. After everything we’ve done to transform the business, I’m really pleased that the last 18 months in particular have shown what HSBC is truly capable of. I am deeply grateful to – and proud of – our people for all they’ve done to make that happen. They’re an amazing team and I’d like to thank them, as well as our clients, shareholders and investors, for putting their trust in me to lead this great organisation. I can honestly say I’ve loved every minute. I look forward to HSBC’s continued success under Georges’ leadership.
