Our Australian office continues to go from strength to strength, completing one of our largest lending transactions to date last year and expanding the team further with the addition of James Shannon. Thanks to incredible support from volunteers and donors, we've sent out 1,450 Smile Hampers to families across the country and over 3,000 gifts to our NHS hospital and hospice partners to give to children and young people under their care. 🎁 We've also arranged for over 320 children to visit Santa in our virtual Christmas Grotto, helping them to experience the magic and excitement of Christmas.🎅 Thank you so much to everyone who has made all this possible and for helping to bring some festive joy to seriously ill children and their siblings this Christmas. 🫶🏻 We couldn't do what we do without you. Every Christmas, our phenomenal charity partner, Spread a Smile, undertakes a marathon effort to create and deliver over 1,500 personalised festive Smile Hampers to seriously ill children and young people who’ll be in hospital over Christmas – and, just as importantly, to their siblings. Our team was delighted to get stuck in packing, decorating and dispatching Smile Hampers again this year and, as ever, we were humbled by the joy Spread a Smile bring to families going through the toughest of times. Thanks to Henry Foster, Sarah Lucas, Catherine King, Chris Emmott, Steven Pell, John Turner, Tom Jones, Stephanie Cope, James Turner and Ryan Sher for rising to the challenge with energy and enthusiasm. We love this circular economy initiative from portfolio company, Denby Pottery Company Ltd, which is the latest part of Denby's sustainability and zero-to-landfill strategy.
Introducing Denby Reloved… It's never been more important to make smart choices when it comes to buying homewares and finding ways to buy well, repurpose, celebrate vintage and do good things with items which no longer suit our needs. There are many ways to ensure ceramics and homeware don't end up in landfill, and so we've teamed up with Shelter UK to encourage those who have unwanted tableware to donate it to their local Shelter charity shop (or via their postal service). As well as preventing these old homewares from ending up in landfill, this means pre-loved items will be sold on to be loved by a new owner and raise funds for Shelter. Every donation will receive a Denby reward code as a thank you - this can be gifted to a friend or saved for the next time you need some new mugs.
