📚 Welcome back to a new school year! As autumn term begins, we're taking a moment at GenEarth to reflect on the incredible journey we had last academic year. We're thrilled to share that we reached nearly 7000 young people through our action-led climate and conservation programmes. Through these initiatives, we’ve engaged young people across our core educational themes of climate justice, animal rights, and eco innovation - and in turn, they’ve inspired us with their passion and commitment to improving the world they've inherited. Here’s a quick look at our programmes: 🌿 Wildlife Conservation in action in partnership with Born Free Foundation 🌍 Climate Justice in partnership with UK Youth Climate Coalition (UKYCC) 💡 YGBC in partnership with Green Britain Foundation, Social Innovation for All and Ministry of Eco Education 🌳 Parklife in partnership with I have a voice CIC & Goldsmiths, University of London. Plus a whole range of workshops, assemblies and community events in partnership with The Scouts, The Advocacy Academy, Islington Council, London Borough of Lambeth and University of Kent We wanted to give a big shout-out to all our amazing volunteers who have supported us throughout the year with their time, talents and expertise 🙌 ----- #ClimateJustice #YouthEmpowerment #EnvironmentalEducation #Sustainability #YouthActivism #WildlifeConservation #ClimateAction #CommunityImpact #InspireChange

The winner of our Best Campaign award for 2024 was *The LITTERALLY Project* from St Vincent’s Special School. These inspiring students have taken action against the litter problem in Liverpool, organising local litter picks and urging others to do the same through their impactful social media campaign. Stray litter isn’t just unsightly—it poses a real danger to visually impaired individuals who can’t see these obstacles in their path. The LITTERALLY Project is making Britain safer and greener for everyone. Let’s all join them in their mission to keep our communities clean! ----- Thanks Earth Minutes for this wonderful video, which was filmed at our National Final! #YoungGreenBriton #CleanUp #CommunityAction #SaferStreets #ClimateAction #YouthEmpowerment #EcoInnovation #SupportYouth #GreenFuture GenEarth Social Innovation for All Ministry of Eco Education Laura Dempsey Katherine Crisp Maddy Owens Dufek Renee Tonkin, PhD Maizie Gardiner

📢 After GCSE Results Day yesterday, we’re amplifying the voices of young people calling for urgent changes to how climate change is taught in schools. GenEarth Young Ambassador, Dylan, says: "Climate change is such a small part of my GCSE specification and only features in the ‘physical’ section. The obvious human causes of climate change are disregarded and not recognized as a definite fact—leaving it up to student interpretation. The lack of conviction in the specification could legitimize the false theory that climate change is natural and detract from the crucial message that urgent action is needed." A big thanks to SOS-UK and Teach the Future for pushing for curriculum change. 🐝 Biodiversity was a hot topic at this year's Young Green Briton Challenge, and we’re thrilled to celebrate two impressive winning teams in the Biodiversity category—both dedicated to helping bees! 🌸 *Let the Flowers Bee-gin* from Hexham Middle School in Northumberland is on a mission to create more bee-friendly schools. They’ve teamed up with local garden centres to produce special bee-friendly seed packets, which they’re sending to schools to help them grow their own bee-friendly gardens. By fostering these gardens, the team hopes to educate young people about the crucial role bees play in maintaining healthy ecosystems. 🏆 *Hive Heroes* from Stroud High School are also hard at work saving the bees by engaging young people in restoring local biodiversity. They’re partnering with primary schools to deliver fun and educational workshops, including activities like “Bee Bingo,” quizzes, seed bomb making, and more. They’ve received abundant positive feedback from primary students, and hope to activate more schools and young people in their effort to restore bee habitats. Together, these teams are making a real difference for our bees and our planet! 🌍💚 ----- Thanks to our volunteer mentors - Imogen Ford, Mark Long, Kate Snow; and the teachers who helped make this happen - Marie Wells (Stroud), Paul Freeman-Myers (Hexham) #YoungGreenBriton #Biodiversity #SaveTheBees #EcoEducation #BeeFriendly #YouthEmpowerment #EcoInnovation #GreenFuture GenEarth Social Innovation for All Ministry of Eco Education Laura Dempsey Katherine Crisp Maddy Owens Dufek Renee Tonkin, PhD Ameena Rahim
