Making Games We Love, With People We Love, For People To Love - Since 2012
About us
"Making games we love; with people we love; for people to love." From day 1 this has been the number one rule at Dlala, and whilst things have changed since the days in the garage that one rule has remained true. We take the work we create very seriously, however that doesn’t mean we have to take ourselves too seriously. Dlala Studios was founded in 2012 by two friends who had previously worked as programmers together at Jagex and Bossa Studios. Within the first 6 months of forming the studio, we released a Windows 8 launch title, were featured on the front cover of Develop Magazine (“Two Guys, One Game, No Cash”) and moved into Microsoft Games Studios Soho office to be their first ever internally incubated studio. Over the next 5 years the team grew from 2 guys in a garage to 16 wonderful people in a studio in Essex, with regular collaborators across the globe. We have spent the last five years focused on creativity, technical knowledge and producing high quality passion-driven work. It’s this drive that has seen us not only creating original IP but working with established IP and supporting some of the biggest companies across the globe. We’ve developed and shipped titles on Microsoft, Sony, Google, Apple and Linux platforms as well as Web Based applications and games.

It was fantastic to have Culture Essex at the studios to sit down with Dlala's founder Anthony James Grand-Scrutton as part of his Essex Cultural Ambassador interview. Check it out!
Our second Essex Cultural Ambassador interview is with Dlala Studios founder and CEO Anthony James Grand-Scrutton. The award-winning games company based in Witham has gone from strength to strength, working with Microsoft, Rare and most recently redesigned Mickey and Friends for ‘Disney Illusion Island’. Reflecting on the success of Dlala Studios, Aj believes Essex has been a multi-faceted aid to his and the company’s achievements. To celebrate the launch of our campaign we've created a series of short films where Essex-based artist Elsa James sits down in conversation with some of our ambassadors to talk about living and working in Essex. Hear the stories of creative entrepreneurs, filmmakers, musicians, and actors in their own words.
