Congratulations to Hassan Saif, senior consultant in our #Infrastructure team, who was recently awarded the @Network Rail #GreenisGreat ACE award. As part of the Ely Tree Planting team, Hassan helped to plant 2,800 trees and shrubs for Network Rail's afforestation project, which aims to replace vegetation lost during infrastructure development. Hassan comments: “At Currie & Brown we share Network Rail’s commitment to social responsibility and environmental values – so it was great to be recognised with this award. Our team in Italy has been appointed by the Belmond Group to work on the redevelopment of the prestigious Hotel Splendido in Portofino. This former monastery in the heart of the Ligurian Riviera became a luxury hotel in 1901. The Belmond Group is now carrying out a major renovation, with our team supporting on project, cost and construction management for the whole project. Bringing stakeholders together: We’re playing a major role in improving communication between various stakeholders: Belmond Group, the design team and other third parties. Our team will ensure that all standard operating procedures are followed throughout the redevelopment. The Belmond Group is relying on us for pre- and post-bid costing, tender documentation and negotiation. Combined with our strict financial control at each step of the project until final handover, we’ll be achieving the best financial results for our client. The renovated hotel will feature 55 luxury rooms, a swimming pool and its dedicated grill area, internal Dior SPA and fitness area, jogging trail, tennis court along with bar restaurants and panoramic terrace.

Congratulations to Kiegan Iles, trainee cost consultant in our Birmingham office. He has been shortlisted in the ‘Young Construction Professional of the Year’ category at this year’s Building the Future Awards. The awards are dedicated to recognising and celebrating the exceptional skills of young professionals aged 18-35 working in our industry. The hope is to inspire and encourage the next generation to consider career opportunities in construction and to bridge the skills gap. Last week our colleagues Anna Bertolin and Stefania Buscemi, from our Treviso office, took part in the annual Real Estate Dinner Night at Ristorante Vertigo of the Milano Verticale hotel. This event, hosted by TOWANT, is a chance to network with architects, design companies and others involved in Italy’s real estate sector. As well as catching up with new and old contacts, Anna and Stefania took part in a cooking contest, with a new take on tiramisu. While they sadly didn’t win, the event was a great success.

Our team in France has been reappointed by the City of Paris to provide technical, financial and environmental advisory services to the renovation and modernisation of Parc des Expositions Porte de Versailles. As this venue prepares for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, it will host para table tennis, volleyball, and weightlifting. These significant upgrades will make it Paris’ largest exhibition park. The project aims to significantly reduce energy consumption, aligning with Paris’ target to cut energy use by 40% by 2030 and supporting France’s goal of a 50% reduction by 2050. Notably, the development of Europe’s largest urban farm on Pavilion 6 will underscore our commitment to sustainable urban development. Additionally, the surrounding park is being transformed with extensive gardens and green spaces. These improvements will enhance the venue for major events.
