Exciting new role with Cavex

We’re excited to share the Carbon Value Exchange was showcased alongside our partners to King Charles III as part of the recent State Visit to Kenya! At the Climate Technology & Innovation event last week in Nairobi, Nick Hughes OBE (CEO, Cavex) and Sitoyo Lopokoiyit MBS (Managing Director, M-PESA Africa) presented our partnership utilising digital finance and payments to channel carbon financing to many individuals, communities and organisations across Sub-Saharan Africa. The Cavex platform was showcased as an innovative digital financing platform connecting global buyers in the carbon markets with many micro-small projects focused on driving transparency, equity and integrity in the markets. Alongside our partners, we aim to channel $500m of climate finance to many organisations and individuals by 2030 and support the removal or avoidance of 100m+ tonnes of carbon. This event marked a big milestone for Cavex as we welcomed users from the audience to engage with the platform in real-time. The audience was able to access the platform via mobile phones to select carbon projects across multiple types, see data on the environmental and social benefits, and submit their interest in carbon project credits and indicated prices. Last week, during the reception on financing climate innovations, where FSD Africa announced opportunities to work on Green Bonds with BURN and investment in Cavex, two of the participants in the Tech Showcase. Cavex also announced the signing of a collaboration agreement with the Africa Carbon Markets Initiative (ACMI) during the same session. Our very own Esther Naggi-Gathingira moderated the session. Last week we participated in the Climate Innovation Technology Showcase at the Nairobi Garage as part of the UK Royal Visit in Nairobi. Our Managing Director, Sitoyo Lopokoiyit MBS together with Nick Hughes (Cavex) engaged with His Royal Highness, King Charles III and shared some remarkable insights on the power of strategic partnerships in driving meaningful change across the continent. In a world where climate change poses an existential threat, it's essential for leaders to come together and harness innovative solutions. We are delighted to be able to share that Cavex has successfully closed its $6m seed funding round, led by E3 Capital (formerly Energy Access Ventures) with participation from FSD Africa Investments (FSDAi), to bring our digital carbon financing platform to full commercial scalability.  Our team looks forward to working with a wide range of partners to bring their projects onto the platform and to connect with buyers who are seeking high quality carbon credits originating at small scale projects that have not so far had access to carbon finance markets.   Cavex has been incubated by 4RDigital with support from FCDO, The Shell Foundation, and FSD Africa.
