Bipolar disorder - let's talk about it 🙋♂️ Bipolar is a severe mental illness characterised by mood swings and changes in energy levels. It can affect thoughts, feelings and behaviour. Someone with bipolar can have long or short periods of stability but can then experience low mood (depression) or ‘high’ (experiencing hypomania, mania, or psychosis). Tarnveer was nominated by Dianna Dass-Farrell, Clinical Service Manager who said: “I am pleased to nominate Tarnveer for recognition during South Asian Heritage Month. Tarnveer is a committed and compassionate Psychological Practitioner working within FIRST. Tarnveer consistently demonstrates a dedication to the wellbeing of our service users and staff. Tarnveer contributes positively to the services aims of creating a culture of reflective practice within the healthcare setting. Tarnveer supports in the facilitation of reflective practice within FIRST as she delivers reflective practice sessions, case busting sessions and post incident support. As a service we recognise that reflective practice provides so many advantages such as improved patient care, enhanced learning, professional growth and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. The work Tarnveer does on a day-to-day basis extends to encompassing a holistic approach and her genuine passion for helping others shines through.” Tarnveer said: “I am a second generation Panjabi (Indian) born in Leicester! I love being a Panjabi Sikh woman. As a young person, I found it tricky to navigate my British identify with my ethnicity, culture and religion.
