The Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act recently received Royal Assent, so what should businesses be doing to stay informed as Competition and Markets Authority prepares for its new powers? In this latest #LegalOutlook episode our UK-based Antitrust, Regulation, and Foreign Investment Team, Fiona Garside, Christopher Eberhardt, and Hayden Dunnett, delve into the three main pillars of the Act — digital markets regime, competition law reforms, and consumer law enforcement — and provide an update on what's changed since our last episode in December. The team also highlights the ambiguities in the draft guidance on the CMA's digital powers, especially around the exercise of its broad powers. Stay ahead of the curve by tuning in to this insightful discussion and understanding the critical changes that could impact your business: https://lnkd.in/eG_2qpbu #DigitalMarkets #CompetitionLaw #ConsumerLaw

This World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, I'd like to reflect on the dedication of our people at Ashurst in their work to combat modern slavery in all its forms. Over the past year, our team’s work with survivors has included: - Launching a mentoring program in East Asia, led by Helena Yeaman, in collaboration with the Starfish Project. Ashurst provided Mandarin-speaking mentors from our APAC region to help teach Business English skills to survivors of people trafficking. - Working with the Sophie Hayes Foundation to launch a work shadow scheme for six survivors of human trafficking and modern-day slavery, helping them gain essential skills, office experience, and self-confidence. Supporting Migrant Help's LEAP (Lived Experience Advisory Panel) with mentors.   Our Founder, William Henry Ashurst, and his daughters were deeply committed to the abolition of slavery – and more than 200 years later we seek to continue to honour that legacy, fighting against modern slavery and people trafficking. It’s a global focus for the firm, from commercial and pro-bono anti-slavery work, through to direct action that support survivors through impactful projects and initiatives. Thank you, in particular, Sarah Morton-Ramwell, Helena Yeaman and Rebecca Greenhalgh for leading our work in this important area and to all at Ashurst worldwide who make a difference. You can read more about our work here: https://lnkd.in/eHzwgRvh  #WorldDayAgainstTraffickinginPersons #ProBono #ModernSlavery
