We tell girls a simple story: Get your period around twelve. Deal with some pain. Have some babies. Then more periods. And then around fifty your body is meant to politely retire. But it’s never that simple. The unseen, unspoken, unknown stories of our periods, vulvas and wombs - our #wombstories - are so much more complex and profound. They are real stories of love and hate, of pleasure and pain and pain so severe it's a disease with a name, endometriosis, it's stories of longing and trying for babies. And of never wanting children. Ever. The joy of birth. The pain of birth. And the silent devastation of miscarriage. Stories of clockwork periods. And haywire ones. Of awkward beginnings and roller-coaster peri-menopausal endings. Good stories. Bad stories. Mundane ones. Profound ones. The bitter. And the sweet. And all of them, all our wombstories are as valid, as normal, as real as any others. And none of us should be made to hide what we feel inside. #womenempowerment #breaktaboo #unspoken #bodyform #amazingwomen #stories #sexualwellbeing #metoo #girls #womenhealth #womanhood #sgbusiness What a great video from Essity's brand Bodyform

𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀... 👩🏻🤝👩🏾 What do women hold? 👨👩👦👦 The home and the family, and the children, and the food. 🫶🏻 The friendships, the work, the work of the world and the work of being human. 💭 The memories, and the troubles, and the sorrows, and the triumphs, and the love. Men do as well, but not quite in the same way. Sometimes when I am feeling particularly happy or content, I think I can provide sustenance for legions of human beings. I can hold the entire world in my arms. Other times, I can barely cross the room. And I drop my arms, frozen. There is never an end to holding, and certainly, there is often the feeling of never doing enough. And then there is the next day and the next day , and one holds on. -------------------------------------------------------- We were deeply touched by the reflective message of 𝗠𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗮 𝗞𝗮𝗹𝗺𝗮𝗻 as part of her TED talk, it speaks volumes. 🚺 It is women who weave the world and its dynamic - with kindness, affection, love, and determination, so the world doesn't fall apart. In the other part of the world, women are holding their dead babies, loved ones, empty pots, their tears and their sorrows. Over the years, I have witnessed the enormous courage and strength of women who are in service, caretakers, creators, corporate leaders, coaches, you name it, to move forward despite obstacles & tragedies they face, although they feel like they are falling apart. 👩🏻🤝👩🏾 We need women at all levels, to change the dynamic, reshape the conversation, to make sure that women’s voices are heard and heeded, not overlooked and ignored. #womensvoice #powerfulwomen #empowerwomen

𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 "𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝘁 𝗔𝗹𝗹"? A question that is never addressed to men. A question that defines "All" with a narrow societal definition of 🌟 a successful career, 🌟 a loving partner, 🌟 adorable children, and 🌟 a stellar appearance with a smoking body despite giving birth to the children. A question that equates "𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹" = "𝗮 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲" If ‘having it all’ refers to a woman’s happiness and well-being, then why can’t a single woman, a single mother, a child-free woman, or a homemaker be seen as having it all? So, for all the women reading this, chances are you already have it all but even if you feel you don’t, make sure that you define it for yourself rather than letting society do it for you. 📽️ from the amazing IG: Paulima #havingitall #doingitall #lifehasseasons

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐦𝐲𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐧 “𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞” More than 80% of the participants agree that they have met <10 people with an executive presence in their entire life. So what does it say? 🤔 Thank you Chrisje Alsters from Adyen for inviting us to break the myths surrounding the elusive “Executive Presence” ☺️ The key takeaways were ✅ Executive presence is a work in progress, it takes work to hone it, including making hard decisions. ✅ Most of us believe executive presence only happens to the very tops of people ✅ In fact, if we put aside our fears and concerns, by letting our authenticity shine, our presence surfaces. If you are struggling with being confident at work, remember, let your fears go, and be okay with being you, everyone else is taken. https://lnkd.in/gnKS8y5r

Our Singapore office celebrated #IWD2024 last week with a workshop designed to help women boost their confidence at the workplace. We had an insightful session reflecting on the impressions we want to put forth and hearing from others about their personal experiences. Following that, we rounded up the day with cocktails — that we made from scratch! Beyond our local IWD activities, Adyen also supports women through our donations product, Giving. This March, we will match all donations made to women's causes via Giving — find out more here: https://lnkd.in/gFSuZ8B7 Huge thanks to ZaZaZu, Jingjin Liu and Dr. Angela Tan for the workshop.

At ZaZaZu, we firmly believe that to truly advance women, we must change the system and the workplace, not the women working in it. As long as the majority of leadership power is held by men, women must learn to speak the language that men understand. Listen to an insightful conversation with Crispina Robert and Adrian Tan and our founder Jingjin Liu at the 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗜𝘁 𝗣𝗼𝗱𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁 in CNA studio. 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗶𝘁, and 𝗢𝘄𝗻 𝗶𝘁! https://lnkd.in/gTF8C9te

Immersed in a male-dominated industry, Jingjin Liu learnt how to navigate assumptions, judgement and outdated ideas about women as sole caregivers. The founder of ZaZaZu, a corporate platform aimed at helping women in their careers, chats with Crispina Robert and Adrian Tan about careers, ageism, and why capable women don't ask for promotions, on this episode of the Work It podcast.
