We were proud to recently partner with Bible Way Apostolic Mission for the second Annual Burlington Citywide Health Fair. The day featured local gospel performers, lunch, and educational sessions on topics such stroke and heart disease, as well as a presentation on concussion/traumatic brain injury awareness with Dr. Emil Matarese, director of the Concussion Program at our Capital Institute for Neurosciences. Other volunteers, including Capital Health EMTs and nurses, were also on hand to perform blood pressure and glucose screenings. Thanks to everyone who joined us in making this a fun day!

Congratulations to Florence resident Brianna Nixon, one of the 2024 winners of our full-tuition scholarships to Rider University! As the daughter of Domaria Mercedes from the Information Technology Department at Capital Health Medical Center – Hopewell, Brianna was able to apply for this scholarship as part of our education benefits partnership with Rider that features a tuition discount and other savings and services. Brianna will study political science in Rider’s College of Arts and Sciences. Did you know that colorectal cancer is the second-deadliest form of cancer in the country? It’s true. And on top of that, about 60% of all colorectal cancer patients are asymptomatic at the time of their diagnosis, which means a high likelihood of surgery to remove cancerous polyps. With technological advances in robotically assisted surgeries, patients are now able to receive minimally invasive procedures to treat their cancer. But what exactly are the benefits? Read our latest blog to find out. https://bit.ly/3VdcZjx

We recently launched a five-year sponsorship agreement with Hamilton Township Recreational Baseball Association Little League (HTRBA) with the presentation of a check to support the league’s purchase of automatic external defibrillators (AEDs). These devices can help save the lives of players, coaches, or spectators who may experience sudden cardiac arrest, and this is an important first step in increasing safety in local youth sports and the larger community. Dr. Neil Saxena from Capital Health Cardiology Specialists was on hand to help us present the check. Click on the link below for the full story. https://lnkd.in/eZhZrffJ

On Monday, July 15th, we were proud to host the annual Dr. Abraham George Memorial Golf Tournament at Forsgate Country Club in Monroe Township, New Jersey. Thanks to all the golfers, guests, sponsors, and volunteers who showed up in record numbers and helped us raise nearly $360,000 for Capital Health Cancer Center, with special thanks to our Champion Sponsor, PF Concepts. We were thrilled to host 350 guests at our post-tournament reception which featured the inspiring story of Shanta Tailor, a grateful Capital Health patient. Your generosity will support the expansion of clinical, educational, and research initiatives that enhance all aspects of care for our cancer patients and their families. We look forward to seeing you next year at the 2025 Dr. Abraham George Memorial Golf Tournament! Our Electrophysiology team recently performed its first implant procedure with the WATCHMAN FLX™ Pro Left Atrial Appendage Closure Device. The latest WATCHMAN device, like its predecessor, is designed as a reasonable alternative to blood thinner medications to reduce stroke risk in people diagnosed with AFib that is not caused by a heart valve problem. Our team performs procedures like WATCHMAN device implants to manage and treat patients with conditions which involve abnormal electrical behavior of the heart. Visit https://lnkd.in/eW3XU948 to make an appointment at Capital Health Cardiology Specialists or to find an office near you.
