Thank you to the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator for recognising the hard work our team has done in designing and implementing innovative charging technology in New Zealand so that we can transition our diesel bus fleet to electric. As leaders in this space, we are always learning as we go, but happy to share our learnings.
While in New Zealand recently Director Policy Implementation Peter Austin and Manager Vehicle Standards Michael Ross visited James Howard at Tranzit Group to see firsthand how they are tackling decarbonising challenging bus routes. Developed by their in-house team is a pneumatically operated pantograph that allows end of route fast charging, which has been fitted to low-weight double deck electric buses. The NHVR recognises there will be no one size fits all approach to reduce emissions, so our industry will need to innovate. Seeing the work across the globe allows us to better support our bus industry as they strive for zero emissions.
