The rising of Matariki occurs tomorrow, and as a significant celebration for many we came together in each of our offices to mark the beginning of the Māori New Year. It's a time for reflection on the past, celebrating the present with kai and cherished moments with our whānau and communities, and setting our sights on the future.   Together we reflected on the past and celebrated the present with kai from the many diverse cultures that make up the Strata team. We had scones from the UK, samp and biltong from South Africa, dumplings from China, sushi from Japan, ube cake from the Philippines, bacon and egg pie from NZ, and so much more. Mānawatia a Matariki e te whānau!

At Strata, we aim for precision in everything we do, so to celebrate our new company value of accuracy we took the team bowling last week 🎯🎳 We had an awesome afternoon together spending some time away from the office. There were some fantastic team costumes with everyone showing off their skills as they aimed for the elusive strike!

We've been a bit quiet over here at Strata as we've kicked off 2024 with huge growth and with seven new starters! Our new additions have joined us across the business in accounts, administration and body corporate management, bringing their fantastic knowledge and experience to Strata. Chantel and Leigh have joined us as Body Corporate Managers, both coming from experienced roles in both New Zealand and South Africa. Annalise, Lexi and Ana have joined our admin team in Reception and Administrative Assistant positions. Kenny has come on board as our new Finance Manager, with Emily and Shivankar joining us in Accounts Assistant and Debt Collection roles respectively.

Over the past 2 years, Doug has been focused on contributing from a body corporate manager’s perspective to guidelines for practical implementation of the new amendments to the Unit Titles Act 2010 (UTA). Doug is NZ’s representative on the Australian Professional Standards and Membership Board Advisory Group who review conduct complaints received against SCA members. It is apparent to Doug that many disputes arise from a lack of understanding of the UTA and its conventions by unit owners in bodies corporate. Doug would like to follow this through to creating better access to neutral expert advice that could be available to new owners in bodies corporate. Doug believes this would be valuable to unit owners and make life easier for body corporate managers who can get pulled into disputes from time to time over minor issues where an owner is confused.

WELCOME ALEXA 🏢 To polish off 2023 we have been lucky enough to welcome Alexa O'Meara (née Jansen) as our brand-new Operations Manager. Alexa comes from a background in banking operations and relationship management and will be working closely with our Management team to keep the Strata machine humming! She is passionate about making people's lives easier and delivering tailored solutions to drive efficiency and performance.
