"The stigma surrounding mental illness can feel worse than the illness itself. I’ve experienced discrimination, even from those closest to me. But I’ve learned to rise above it. There was a time when I wanted to escape it all. But then I thought of my kids. The last thing I wanted was for them to have to explain that their father committed suicide. I’ll go days without sleep on a bi-polar high, fuelled by excitement. It’s thrilling. I’m more connected, more alive. But that can change in a matter of hours. That fact I've survived every depression that followed is something I'm really proud of. So many Kiwis carry on in a depressed state without knowing. If they are reading this, I want them to know that it’s okay to get help." Tim on living with bi-polar

This is a cheaper, more sustainable and more realistic way to train Anaesthetists for this procedure, so they are fully prepared in a real-life situation. #watch Dr Jeremy Young and Melita MacDonald talk about this super interesting and important mahi.
