Premium engineered timber collections designed in New Zealand.

About us

Forté was established in 1985, we’re a family business firmly rooted in our beginnings of working with timber. We’ve evolved and matured over the years, to become one of the leading suppliers of refined timber surfaces including flooring, panelling, decking and exterior cladding. We’ve got here because of one important trait: we care. Caring is ingrained into everything we do, at every step of the journey from product design to aftercare. It’s there in our commitment to sustainability too. And as our team has grown, that sense of caring has simply grown with us. We’re committed to putting the very best timber surfaces in the hands of architects, designers, builders and homeowners. We do this with passion, integrity, knowledge, and products designed specifically for our unique environments. That’s always been our way. In the words of our founders, we’re small enough to care, but large enough to deliver. That’s our Forté.

When looking at sustainable architecture, passive houses stand out for their energy efficiency and environmental responsibility. These homes are designed to minimise energy consumption for heating and cooling, relying instead on strategic insulation and ventilation. In New Zealand, the climate can vary significantly so the principles of passive house design are particularly effective. One crucial aspect of creating a comfortable and efficient passive house is the choice of building materials, such as flooring and wall panelling. Engineered wood flooring products, such as those offered by Forté, play a pivotal role in achieving both aesthetic appeal and functional efficiency in these innovative homes. In this article, we look into how engineered wood flooring and wall panelling can benefit a passive house and how Forté’s products complement the passive house design well → https://hubs.ly/Q02HLtwH0
