The Foodstuffs grocery co-ops have confirmed our support for the Commerce Commission’s vision of a more competitive, transparent and fair grocery market in NZ. The Commission’s Annual Grocery Report, released today, reiterated its goal of increased grocery competition, and outlined a range of regulatory options to achieve that. In response our Chief Executive, Mary Devine, said the two co-ops’ 39,000 team members have already done a lot of work towards that goal, and delivered significant change. “The progress we’ve made - whether in keeping prices below food price inflation or expanding wholesale supply to other retailers - demonstrates our commitment to the sector’s shared objectives,” she said. We’re excited to announce that construction has begun on a new fully automated state-of-the-art freezer at our Hornby Distribution Centre. As part of our purpose to help feed the South Island, we’ve invested $27m into the freezer expansion to help meet increased demand for frozen goods among customers across the South Island, and boost storage capacity for our supplier partners to stock their products. Our new 2,587sqm freezer will feature an Automatic Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) using fully automated crane and shuttle technology to store frozen products more efficiently and reduce carbon emissions. It’ll also include innovative hypoxic fire prevention technology to maintain a low oxygen environment and prevent fire. Designed and delivered by construction partner Apollo Projects, the facility will be the newest automated freezer warehouse in the South Island when it opens in September 2025. We’re proud of the work our Foodstuffs co-ops are doing to give New Zealand a fair deal – and these 5 charts illustrate some of the facts that matter. We’re also working hard to implement key aspects of the Grocery Industry Competition Act, which was enacted a year ago: ▪️ More prices are staying lower longer – we’ve increased the number of products with ‘everyday low pricing’ and made our shelf labels easier to understand. ▪️ Grocery Supply Code - all members of our Merchandising teams have received training in upholding the Code, as well as a large number of our store teams. ▪️ Unit pricing – we’ve undertaken significant work to introduce this across our physical and online stores ahead of the respective deadlines for both. ▪️ Wholesale supply – we’ve opened our wholesale supply to other retailers to make it easier for them to enter the market and/or grow. Being there for our local communities and helping out in times of hardship is hugely important to our store owner operators, and we’re always looking at ways to make a real, tangible difference to the people who need it most. Our Community Trust, which is funded by our owner operators across the South Island, has provided the Southern Cancer Society a $20,000 grant to provide nourishment and support to families and their loved ones who are undergoing cancer treatment. Through the Trust, we’ve provided $20,000 worth of PAK’nSAVE and New World vouchers which have been gratefully received by families across the South Island who have been impacted by cancer and are going through tough times. Helping to feed the South Island and make a difference is a part of what we do, and it’s heart-warming to see the positive impact our contribution has made to those on their cancer journey. We’re proud to support the Cancer Society’s incredible work in the community, and want to extend a huge thank you to everyone at the Society for their tireless efforts and dedication. Owning five different supermarkets in one lifetime might be enough for some people, but Glenn and Tracey Anderson have no intention of slowing down just yet! We’re so excited to welcome this superstar husband and wife team as the new owner operators of PAK’nSAVE Richmond. Glen and Tracey say the store, which is the largest they’ve owned, will be their last, and they’re looking forward to putting everything they have into making it the best possible store it can be for the Richmond community. Please join us in congratulating Glenn and Tracey on their new roles! 😀 🎉 #foodies #newowners #community #PaknSave Mary Devine, ONZM Tim Donaldson Damian Lynch Kris Lancaster Andrew Crerar Shayne Tong Andrew Gaukrodger Dominic Quin Emma Wooster Esther Gordon Clinton Rowling Sonia Beal Saskia Stone Joshua Parker Tazmah Saunders Sophie Parish Stefan Herrick Sandy Botterill Jamie Hodgetts Lauren Ness

As part of our purpose to help feed the South Island and create successful communities, we’ve provided local Christchurch charity Full Bellies with $10,000 worth of PAK’nSAVE and New World vouchers to help local families and fill the bellies of our tamariki. Full Bellies founder Kate Pauling started the organisation from her kitchen in 2022, after hearing about local families struggling to put food on the table, let alone provide their kids with a school lunch. Full Bellies is making a big impact on students in north-west Christchurch, providing nutritious lunch bags to set them up for the school day so they can focus on learning. Their efforts not only nourish young minds but also foster a supportive environment where every child can learn, develop, and thrive. We’re a firm believer in the power of community support, and we’re proud to be supporting Full Bellies and their fantastic work. Finding the New World Wine Awards Top 50 from more than 1,280 entries requires some amazing judges – but also an extremely dedicated support crew! Over the past three days, Foodies from across the South Island have been busy helping sort more than 5,100 bottles and pour more than 10,000 samples, all while walking tens of thousands of steps each day to deliver each entry sample to our 26-strong judging panel. Along the way, they’ve had the opportunity to learn more about the wide range of wines on offer and the inner workings of wine competitions – knowledge and insight they’ll be able to take back to their work, their team and our wine-loving customers. #Cheers to all involved, and #watchthisspace for the October announcement of the New World Wine Awards Top 50 under $25 to see which wines came out on top. #newworldwineawards Mary Devine, ONZM Tim Donaldson Damian Lynch Kris Lancaster Nathan Marsh Andrew Crerar Shayne Tong Andrew Gaukrodger Dominic Quin Emma Wooster Esther Gordon Clinton Rowling Sonia Beal Jamie Hodgetts Lauren Ness Saskia Stone Joshua Parker Tazmah Saunders Damian Lynch Renee Waru Stephanie Browning Penny Spooner Clark Xu Sam Smail Natalie Christensen Krystal Palmer Hugh Girling
