We took a walk in Svartdalsparken (one of Oslo's most precious old-growth forests) this week with Shifter.no, and shared our motivation for starting Noora. Don't have Shifter+ / can't read Norwegian? Here's a brief summary: 🌲the boreal forest is a significant carbon sink and if managed well can play a major role in reversing global warming in the coming decades 🌲new incentives are key, and our mission is to make carbon capture & storage and biodiversity protection a profitable priority for forest owners 🌲EU is leading the way with new regulatory standards for quality assessment in nature-based projects and clearer directives for large companies that want to be a part of the solution 🌲there are a growing number of European players in this segment that we look at as partners in the mission to increase the supply of high-integrity nature-based carbon credits on the VCM 🌲 The Symbiosis Coalition was launched last week by Google, Meta, Microsoft & Salesforce with an advance market commitment to collectively contract for up to 20 million tons of carbon removal from nature-based carbon removal projects, with the goal of accelerating their pathway to scale 🌲we are looking for passionate people to join us on this journey (not mentioned in the article specifically, but always worth noting on Linkedin ;) so reach out if you think you can contribute

Hello world 🌍 Did you know that boreal forests store approximately 40% of the world’s land based carbon, making them vital in the fight against the climate and nature crisis? The forest has the largest potential to capture and store CO2 at the scale we need in the coming decades, but that requires us to change management practices ASAP. New incentives are key, and the time to scale these solutions is now. Noora is a new technology company that enables professional forest owners and businesses to remove CO2 at scale on nature’s terms. We are developing a portfolio of nature-based methods, based on 5 main principles; natural, scalable, economically mature, area efficient and fast implementation.
