🌍💡Establishment of Norway's largest renewable energy storage Several alternative energy sources were considered when expanding "Arsenalet" by 30,000 square meters to ensure increased production capacity in the coming years. The decision was made to utilize energy from geothermal wells – an emission-free, silent, and renewable solution. The result is an impressive energy center that has been operational since January 1 and now supplies the entire industrial park with stable and environmentally friendly energy. Currently, the technology park is supplied with energy from 178 energy wells, each 300 meters deep, totaling 53 kilometers. Royal Australian Navy conducted successful firing of Naval Strike Missile ✅ in July, Hobart class destroyer HMAS Sydney, conducted a successful firing of the Naval Strike Missile (NSM), Navy’s replacement for the ageing Harpoon weapon system. The firing was conducted during Exercise RIMPAC 2024, being hosted by the US Navy off Hawaii, during a simulated activity which tested the sinking of Ex-USS Tarawa LHA1. This was a major milestone towards achieving the objectives of the National Defence Strategy by enhancing Defence’s integrated, focused force, and a great example of Defence’s collaboration with industry and international partners. “This collaboration between Defence and industry partner Kongsberg Defence Australia, along with local Australian companies such as Marand, Aerobond, Australian Precision Technologies, Nupress Group, Axiom Precision Manufacturing and Stahl Metall, demonstrates the Australian Government’s commitment to working with defence industry to accelerate enhanced lethality capability integration," said Minister for Defence Industry, Pat Conroy. The NSM is a long-range precision missile that strikes heavily defended land and sea targets. With an eye for electronics 👁️ Electronics might seem like a foreign language to most people, but for Marte, it's an exciting puzzle. With precision and creativity, she designs and develops circuit boards as part of one of the largest electronics environments in the Nordics. As an electronic engineer in eWorks, Marte is one of those who develop circuit boards for the entire product portfolio of Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace. Saving the rainforests with free satellite data 🛰️🌍 The world's rainforests are disappearing at an alarming rate: Equivalent to one football pitch every 6 seconds. Until recently, the problem has been that few have access to accurate information regarding exactly where they are being cut down and burned. Today, KSAT – Kongsberg Satellite Services continuously downloads high resolution satellite data images from the many rainforests worldwide, making these images available for free. "We are now in our fourth year of the project and have over 25,000 registered users in nearly 160 different countries. The satellite program is groundbreaking. The satellite images that KSAT delivers together with partners Airbus and Planet, cover rainforest in as many as 97 countries. We download several gigabytes of high-resolution images every month, stitch them together into a mosaic and make the data ready for analysis - completely free of charge thanks to funding from the Norwegian authorities," explains Charlotte Bishop, Senior Project Manager at KSAT.
