General Ledger Accountant

Our client has its headquarters in the Leiden region, 9 sales offices across Europe, a warehouse and print shop in Poland, and an in-house production site of innovative products in the UK. They are the European leader in the product media industry. They offer a wide collection of quality products and top brands, with many customisation options. With many categories ranging from drinkware to technology, from clothing and bags to home and from stationery & writing to umbrellas and sports & leisure. It employs around 800 people across locations in Europe and Shanghai. Commuting: best reached by private transport.

There is a direct 40-minute bus connection from Leiden Central Station and from Schiphol Airport to this company's location. From Hoofddorp, there is a 30-minute direct bus connection.

The role

We are currently looking for a General Ledger Accountant who speaks English and good knowledge of Dutch in the area of Leiden. As General Ledger Accountant your core activities are to ensure that the data in the General Ledgers are up-to-date, accurate, reconciled, analyzed and effectively maintained. Periodical closings are of course done in a timely manner. You also create and improve standardized P&L and Balance sheet, WKR and environmental tax reports so you provide good and clear insights and analyses (suspense accounts, budget vs. actuals).

Besides that you also:

• Create special sales invoices (intercompany- manual) and journal entries (balance and P&L).
• Check reconciliation subledger accounts receivable/accounts payable with general ledger.
• Accounting activities (accruals, fixed assets, intercompany reconciliations, bad debt provisions).
• Salary journal entry into the general ledger.
• Prepare monthly management OPEX reporting.
• Enter salary journal entry into the general ledger.

You are living in the Netherlands and already have a work permit. We do not offer sponsor ships.

Requirements

• 3 - 5 (or more) years relevant working experience as GL Accountant.
• You are a team player, supportive to your colleagues but also independent, have an analytical and critical eye for detail.
• HBO degree (Finance, Accounting or similar) or you have a comparable working and thinking level.
• Excellent listening and communication skills.
• Excellent English verbally and written. Good understanding of the Dutch language is a pré.
• Customer supportive, stress resistance, a team player and solution oriented.
• Eager to learn and to follow training/ courses.
