When sales team can’t hit their sales target, how they respond to the question “WHY” will show you what’s their level as a sales professional: 👉 Level 1: “The market is bad.” In this level, the team blames external factors, which shows a lack of ownership and accountability. 👉 Level 2: “I didn’t do enough.” Owning their shortfall reflects a sense of personal responsibility, but this might also undermine external factors that plays a role in the results. 👉 Level 3: “I worked hard, but the competition is bad.” Acknowledging effort and also considering external forces suggests a neutral mindset. The next level, Level 4, is when they can hit their target. 👉 Level 4: “I hit my target, and this is what I’ve done.” In this level, the team hits the target with confidence and also shares their process, growth and learning. 👉 Level 5: “I hit my target, and I will teach you how to hit yours too.” At the highest stage, the sales professional is willing to mentor and guide others, reflecting true leadership and collaboration. “Why did you leave your last company?” FangKai Low 卢方凯 interviewed a candidate last week for VHR and asked this question. This was the response: “The company didn’t provide any learning opportunity. I feel that I’m not growing there.” This is a WRONG way to answer this question. As we always say, don’t talk bad about your last company. Instead of giving “away from” answers, talk about what you’re leaning towards. For example, you can say “I am looking for a workplace with more opportunities to learn and challenge myself, and I believe that this is a great place to do so.” This candidate didn’t leave a good impression, and she unfortunately didn’t make it to the next round. For candidates, this is a reminder to keep your answers focused on what you want to move towards, instead of what you want to be away from. And for employers, this is a reminder to not overlook the growth and learning of your team. As a recruiter, we’ve seen a consistent pattern of talents leaving due to lack of opportunities for growth, and it’s definitely something employers should not overlook. Cheers! www.vhrconsultancy.com VHR Consultancy #vhrasia #vhrcreatesvalue #welearnwesharewecreatevalue #fangkailow

What to Consider When Accepting a Job that Requires Frequent Travel Accepting a job offer that involves frequent travel can be exciting, but there are several important factors to consider before making a decision. 1. Family and Partner’s Input Frequent travel not only affects your life but also the lives of your family members. Be sure to have an open discussion with your partner or family before committing to such a role. Their support and agreement are crucial to maintaining a healthy balance between work and personal life. 2. Lifestyle and Work-Life Balance Are you comfortable with a lifestyle that requires you to be away from home regularly? This could mean spending less time with your family, missing important events, or having less time for yourself. Consider how frequent travel will impact your overall work-life balance. 3. Time and Energy Management Frequent travel requires excellent time and energy management. Can you handle tight schedules, different time zones, or travel fatigue? Ensure that you’re physically and mentally prepared to deal with these challenges. 4. Benefits and Compensation Frequent travel often comes with perks such as travel benefits, allowances, and incentives. However, make sure to evaluate if these benefits are enough to balance the time and energy spent on being constantly on the move. Taking a job that requires frequent travel calls for thoughtful consideration, not just from a career perspective but also from a personal one. If you’re thinking about taking such a role, make sure to weigh all the factors above so that you can make the best decision for yourself and your loved ones. #CareerAdvice #Recruitment #FrequentTravel #WorkLifeBalance #HiringConsultation www.vhrconsultancy.com VHR Consultancy  #vhrasia #vhrcreatesvalue  #welearnwesharewecreatevalue  #fangkailow

There are two days that all of us will have mixed feelings in our career - the day we get an offer letter, and the day we tender resignation. Both days have a mix of sense of relief, anxiousness and excitement. In workplace, we often see people being more open after resignation, as they’re able to let go and move on. They are more courageous to voice out with less constraints, and act more freely when they don’t dare to voice out before. However, be very mindful not to burn bridges. Even though the consequences of your actions become less after resigning, it is not zero. News can still spread, and you’ll never know when you might cross path with your colleagues and managers again. Tendering resignation is liberating, but do not act without wisdom after. Cheers! www.vhrconsultancy.com VHR Consultancy #vhrasia #vhrcreatesvalue #welearnwesharewecreatevalue #fangkailow

We came across a candidate who shared that he’s seeking a career change because his subordinates aren’t cooperating with him. This is a common challenge faced by many who transition into managerial roles. The shift from being a peer to being a leader can create friction if not handled with the right approach. So, how do you overcome this issue? Here are some tips to help you manage your team more effectively: 1. Build Trust Through Open Communication The first step to gaining cooperation from your team is to establish trust. Encourage open and honest communication. Let your team know that their opinions and ideas matter. When people feel heard, they’re more likely to support your leadership and collaborate willingly. Regular check-ins and an open-door policy can go a long way in building this trust. 2. Set Clear Expectations Often, lack of cooperation stems from unclear expectations. Ensure that each team member knows what is expected of them and how their role contributes to the team’s overall success. Clear, measurable goals help align everyone’s efforts and reduce misunderstandings that can lead to resistance. 3. Lead by Example Your behavior sets the tone for the entire team. Demonstrate the work ethic, attitude, and respect you expect from your subordinates. When they see you embodying the values you promote, they’re more likely to follow suit. Consistency in your actions builds credibility and encourages others to cooperate. 4. Address Conflicts Early and Fairly Conflicts are inevitable in any team, but how you handle them can make or break your leadership. Address issues as soon as they arise, and ensure you’re fair and impartial. Create an environment where conflicts are resolved constructively, focusing on solutions rather than assigning blame. This approach helps maintain harmony and keeps the team working together smoothly. 5. Empower Your Team Sometimes, resistance comes from feeling micromanaged or undervalued. Empower your team by delegating responsibilities and giving them the autonomy to make decisions within their roles. When subordinates feel trusted and valued, they’re more likely to take ownership of their work and collaborate more effectively. Transitioning to a managerial role isn’t without its challenges, but with these strategies, you can create a cooperative and productive team environment. Remember, leadership is a journey of continuous learning and improvement. By fostering trust, clarity, and respect, you’ll not only overcome resistance but also inspire your team to achieve great things together. #LeadershipTips #ManagementSkills #CareerTransition #TeamManagement #ProfessionalGrowth www.vhrconsultancy.com VHR Consultancy  #vhrasia #vhrcreatesvalue  #welearnwesharewecreatevalue  #fangkailow

“I’m out of job.” A young man told FangKai Low 卢方凯 lately. “What happened?” he asked. “I don’t like the way my boss talks to me. I’m quitting to pursue my dream to become a cafe owner,” he said. We often hear people saying that they wanna quit and do something else, but what many people don’t realize is that changing JOB and changing CAREER are two very different things. If you’re a product manager in a company, you can change to another similar role in another company - that’s a job change. But if you’re changing from product manager to being an entrepreneur/cafe owner, that’s a complete career change. Career change requires you to learn from scratch, and it demands resilience and grit. Here, we are not discouraging any courageous shift in career. But, before you jump into a career change impulsively, ask yourself, are you ready for a job change or career change? Which one? www.vhrconsultancy.com VHR Consultancy #vhrasia #vhrcreatesvalue #welearnwesharewecreatevalue #fangkailow

🛑 5 Mistakes to Avoid in Job Interviews 🛑 Job interviews are your chance to make a lasting impression, but even the most qualified candidates can falter by making avoidable mistakes. Here are five common missteps that could cost you the job—and how to avoid them: 1. Lack of Company Research Not knowing key details about the company shows a lack of interest. Always research the company’s history, values, products, and recent news. It will help you tailor your answers and show genuine enthusiasm. 2. Arriving Late Punctuality reflects your professionalism. Aim to arrive 10-15 minutes early to account for unexpected delays. Being late can make you seem unreliable and disorganized. 3. Inappropriate Attire Your outfit sets the tone before you even speak. Dress appropriately for the industry you’re interviewing in—when in doubt, it's better to be slightly overdressed than underdressed. 4. Poor Preparation for Common Questions If you stumble over basic questions like "Tell me about yourself" or "Why do you want to work here?", it suggests you haven’t taken the time to prepare. Practice your answers to convey confidence and clarity. 5. Failing to Ask Questions Remember, interviews are a two-way street. Not asking questions can signal a lack of curiosity or interest in the role. Prepare thoughtful questions about the company culture, team dynamics, or job responsibilities. Avoid these pitfalls, and you'll leave a positive impression that could pave the way to your next career move! #JobInterviewTips #CareerAdvice #Recruitment www.vhrconsultancy.com VHR Consultancy  #vhrasia #vhrcreatesvalue  #welearnwesharewecreatevalue  #fangkailow
