Following a courtesy visit with the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, yesterday, UEM Group’s Chairman, Datuk Amran Hafiz Affifudin, spoke to the media about UEM Lestra’s venture in Sarawak. He stated that the government has agreed in principle to collaborate with UEM Lestra and its partner, Planet QEOS, to develop a large-scale 500-megawatt solar project in Baram. According to Datuk Amran, a feasibility study will be conducted to assess the suitability of the project, which he believes will be a 'needle mover' and will benefit all stakeholders in Sarawak and Malaysia in general. “Sebelum ni, saya pinjam baju sekolah kawan. Sekarang saya dah ada baju sendiri,” Adam Darwish (Tingkatan 4), Hulu Terengganu, Terengganu. “Saya tak payah pakai seluar sukan yang koyak dah sebab dah dapat yang baru,” Asyifa Sumayah (Tingkatan 1), Pontian, Johor. Yayasan UEM volunteers heard many more of these comments from underprivileged students who were victims of the devastating flood that affected the states of Kelantan, Terengganu, Johor and Pahang late last year and earlier this year (2023/2024). Joining forces with GDRN Bantu - GLC Demi Rakyat dan Negara, Yayasan UEM provided Back-to-School items including sports attire to 3,870 students / flood victims spanning four states and 19 districts.
