STT GDC recently entered the Japan data centre market with plans for two data centres in Tokyo, to be developed by and leased from Goodman. This partnership demonstrates STT GDC’s commitment to growing its regional data centre footprint. The two new data centres will comprise 60,000 square metres of gross floor area, resulting in a development potential of 60 megawatts of IT power across the two buildings. This new data centre campus will be located within Goodman Business Park in Inzai City in the Greater Tokyo area. Goodman Business Park is an integrated industrial and data centre estate with over 800,000 square metres of lettable area upon completion.
Summary of Scope of Work
• Manages and services large scale 'in-country' data centre infrastructure and facilities to ensure 24x7 operations in rotating shifts.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Supports the organisation's data centre services through active 24x7 monitoring of the infrastructure.
• Acts as Level 1 escalation point for all onsite operational incidents, respond & perform remote requests within SLA.
• Documents and updates accurately all requests on the internal Web Portal ticketing system such as user requests, incidents, provisioning, etc.
• Delivers ITIL compliance process conformance for incident, problem and change management.
• Ensures effective implementations of safety, security and customer support policy and procedures.
• Coordinates and provides support to contractors and vendors as well as inspecting completed work.
• Plans and supports all planned preventive and reactive maintenance activities with little to no disruption to company's services.
• Participates and supports internal and external audits for internal stakeholders and customers.
• Generates accurate and regular reports when required.
• Any other duties or project as assigned by the Management.
Qualifications, Skills, and Requirements
Education and Experience
• Diploma in Computing/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related field; or
• Minimum 3 years of data center / telecom related work experience in 24/7 operations
Technical Skills:
• Possess general knowledge of M&E and Network Critical Infrastructure.
• Meticulous team player with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-pace environment.
Language Proficiencies
• Japanese - spoken and written, business level.
• English – verbal conversational, written business entry level
Computer proficiencies
• Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Preferred qualifications
• Broad knowledge in DC facilities related systems such as PDUs, UPS, DC Rectifier, Generators, CRAUs, DX cooling, fire protections, etc
• Possess relevant facilities management and/or data centre related certifications, such as ITIL, CDCP, CDCS, etc
• Broad knowledge in cloud technology, network, data centre facilities, system applications and related IT systems
• Familiar with certifications standards, such as LEED Gold, ISO 20000 / 22301 / 27001, Uptime Institute Tier III, etc
Prepared to be on 24x7 standby on-call to provide extra manpower coverage when necessary
