We are looking for a Financial Controller to oversee and direct the accounting and financial functions of our overall operation in Jamaica. The successful candidate will identify methods to improve the company's profit margin and overall sustainability, in line with the business strategy defined for the Caribbean region and achieve the company's set goals and objectives in the best interest of its shareholders.

Main Accountabilities:

• Organize and prepare annual budgets, coordinating the preparation of departmental budgets, and compiling these for the business as a whole. Contribute to the preparation of the company’s business plan and strategy.
• Monitor and update financial forecasts, ensure budgetary compliance, review budget variances, and update, accordingly, providing guidance to align business performance.
• Guide the finance department/team and oversee the financial accounting processes to determine and achieve optimum efficiencies.
• Source and manage required funding, ensuring there are no shortfalls in meeting financial obligations.
• Seek and negotiate reasonable investment products and rates in the best interest of the company.
• Manage corporate tax return processes, corporate deductions, and allowances to leverage tax benefits, and manage the company’s insurance.
• Review and present management accounts and business performance reports to key stakeholders.
• Continuously review internal controls and identify areas of weakness in systems and processes, ensuring proper checks and balances are in place.
• Lead and manage teams within the finance function.

Education and Specialization:

• Graduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• CPA or equivalent certification.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience within a medium to large retail/commercial operation.
• Strong negotiation skills, good report writing skills, computer literate with exposure to General Ledger, POS, and spreadsheet applications.
• Knowledge of financial markets and treasury functions, understanding of investment appraisals, analytical mind, detail-oriented, problem solver.
• Strong commitment to good ethical practice.
