On the occasion of the reopening of Loro Piana’s emblematic Ginza store, WWD Japan sat down with CEO Damien Bertrand to discuss the Maison’s centenary celebration, sustainable growth, and Japan’s exceptional denim savoir-faire. Loro Piana’s artisans share with Japanese denim experts a passion for innovative craftsmanship, ultimate quality, and the pursuit of excellence. This obsession for textile traditions has resulted in rare knowledge exchanges, giving life to fabrics such as CashDenim®, an exceptional blend of cashmere and cotton. Our commitment to the advancement of talent through our dedicated career development initiatives continues. Last year, we introduced the "Avenue Programs" as part of our strategic approach to professional growth across the Maison. Launched in September 2023, the "Avenue Retail Acceleration" is an exclusive 18-month program designed for professionals with 5 to 8 years of work experience. Throughout three six-month rotations, participants gain an in-depth perspective on retail while contributing to strategic projects. This year's edition comprises eight exceptional talents from across the globe, currently engaged in their second rotation. They have recently been hosted at our production sites in Valsesia for an immersive experience into the heart of our heritage, solidifying their connection with our Maison’s legacy and savoir-faire. #LoroPiana #LoroPianaTalents

Permeated by a sense of quiet flow. Impeccable in shape and craftsmanship, the Dwight coat from the Fall/Winter 2024-2025 Collection is woven from piece-dyed Japon Silk, with a pronounced warp that lends it a distinctive fluid drape. #LoroPianaFW24

In between heritage and inspirations. The Fall/Winter 2024-2025 Campaign explores the Maison’s links to Scotland in powerful visuals of natural beauty. Known as the land of the thistle and of the woollen Cheviot fabric, the British country serves as a unique textile inspiration for Loro Piana and its centenary collection that imbues Scottish icons with Italian elegance. #LoroPianaFW24

Every summer, our Maison invests in the growth of young students from Valsesia district high schools by hosting 20 of them through curricular internships. This year, the apprentices are spending their summer in various areas, from product development to textile design, from the dyeing department to the quality control laboratory. The pursuit of excellence starts from the very first steps of education: this is why we additionally enrich students’ paths with a special event, the Loro Piana Exchange Day. The initiative, facilitated by the Loro Piana Learning & Development Team and our artisans, focuses on discovering possible future career paths, allowing young talents to participate in LVMH ME Masterclasses and deep dive into the luxury ecosystem. #LoroPiana

Our Maison is partnering with Biella Master delle Fibre Nobili to invest in younger generations through a specialised training path in the textile value chain worldwide. We support the development of emerging talent by hosting students for curricular internships during their technical training journey and creating tailored experiences in China, to deepen their knowledge of cashmere, and in New York, to understand the retail approach. Additionally, for the past two years, the learning path has been enriched through a unique training module focused on leather goods at the production plant in Tuscany. We remain dedicated to fostering students' understanding of artisanal crafts and exceptional métiers. #LoroPiana #LoroPianaTalents

The thistle flower, a symbol of the Maison’s savoir-faire and textile legacy. Emblematic of the link between nature and craftsmanship, the thistle flower, “fiori di cardo” in Italian, was historically used as a tool to raise and brush the surface of precious fabrics in the Loro Piana Quarona factory in Piedmont. Thanks to its curved tips, it would lend materials a sublime finish – soft, lustrous, and delicate all at once – and has been part of the House’s historical coat of arms since 1951. Celebrated in the Fall/Winter 2024-2025 Collection, the signature flower stands as inspiration in details and motifs, encapsulating the Maison’s dedication to supreme quality. #LoroPiana
