Shane O’Donoghue has officially announced his retirement from hockey 🏑 Since making his senior debut against Canada in 2011 at the age of 19, Shane has been a pivotal part of the Senior International set-up. His contribution helped the team win Bronze at the 2015 European Championships in London, qualify for the Rio 2016 & Paris 2024 Olympic Games and win gold at the 2023 EuroHockey Championship II in Dublin among many other international accolades such as a World Young Player of Year Nomination in 2015. Ireland’s record international goalscorer with 124 goals, a title he achieved against England in the 2018 World Cup, Shane’s unrelenting effort and commitment to Irish Hockey has helped to inspire thousands of young boys and girls across the country to follow in his footsteps. Thank you, Shane. #TeamIreland
