Looking back on our 30 years of collaborating with OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers, we have consistently observed common pain points in the software function development for microcontrollers, particularly the lack of a state-of-the-art development process. In our latest white paper, we identified and addressed the most prevalent weaknesses throughout the development workflow and highlighted these five key challenges: - High integration effort - Complex calibration - Time-consuming testing and debugging - Limited scalability and flexibility - Fulfilling holistic cybersecurity requirements 📘 By understanding these challenges and choosing the right approaches, automotive manufacturers can boost the efficiency of their development processes, reduce workloads, implement higher security standards – and keep pace with the fast-evolving market. 🚀 🔗 Download the white paper now: https://lnkd.in/ei2AbU8w

#Doyouknow: what controls the airbag, ABS and windows in your car? 🚗 ❤️ In the heart of the complex systems of modern vehicles, microcontrollers (MCUs) are used for a variety of specific and often safety-critical applications, from controlling windshield wipers to motor functions. Standard vehicles contain over 40 ECUs, with high-end models having up to 150. The increasing go-to-market speed of the automotive industry calls for a state-of-the-art process for software development of microcontrollers. However, over the past years of experience in supporting our customers, we see that optimizing the toolchains for these microcontrollers could be quite challenging: - How to boost development speed? - How to ensure efficiency? - How to avoid vendor lock-in? - How to ensure flexibility in tool integration? - How to produce reliable safety functions? After going through the entire software development process, we summed up 5 key challenges and corresponding approaches based on use cases and feedback. Want to know more? Check out: ➡️https://lnkd.in/eq3NWt8k Since 30 years, our heart beats embedded. ❤️ #Automotive #ECU #Microcontroller #SoftwareDevelopment #Innovation

Continuing from our previous post about the insights in our Automotive Cyber Maturity Report, we are excited to share two more of them. 👉 Key insight #3: Focus on security operations and ecosystem Automotive organizations are increasingly focusing on security monitoring and the software supply chain. Companies with higher cyber maturity rank these as their biggest challenges and are more likely to implement SIEMs and SOCs. Vulnerability management has taken center stage, with firms leveraging various sources for cybersecurity monitoring and adopting active measures to secure the ecosystem. There is a clear shift from document-based to integrated and automated measures in the software development workflow, aligning with the strong Dev(Sec)Ops practices noted. 👉 Key insight #4: GenAI must receive appropriate attention The rise of generative #AI (GenAI) in the automotive industry has sparked both concern and high expectations. Our survey reveals a gap between the cybersecurity views of subject-matter experts (more pessimistic) and upper management (more optimistic, rising with job level). While the industry agrees that GenAI is crucial for innovations in automotive cybersecurity and competitiveness, there is also concern that GenAI could introduce more vulnerabilities than solutions. Participants from China have the highest expectations but are also highly aware of potential pitfalls. High-maturity companies have gained more experience with GenAI, informing a keener understanding of cyber risks. Thanks again to all participants who contributed to this year’s survey and make sure to read the full report here: https://lnkd.in/dtMKXUNk #AutomotiveCyberSecurity #CyberMaturity #SoftwareDefinedVehicles
