We are looking for an exceptional individual to join the Late Respiratory and Immunology team in BioPharma R&D as an Operations Manager.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

As an Operations Manager, you will provide exceptional business support in a dynamic, fast-paced and exciting area within BioPharma R&D. You will partner with the Business Planning and Operations (BPO) team, leaders and key stakeholders to ensure the productivity and exceptional delivery of BPO-led processes and services. Your role will involve contract and purchase order processing, external funding, nominated signatory approvals, as well as maintenance of our Sharepoint, MS Teams and Workplace channels.

Activities/duties will include:


  • Point of contact for the Late R&I team to deliver the timely and efficient creation, approval, and management of Statements of Work (SOWs) and Purchase Orders (POs).
  • Ensure timely receipt of executed agreements prior to the execution of the project start date, escalate as required.
  • Streamline coordination between global teams (Legal, Procurement, Global Finance, and Compliance) and work to standardize and improve processes to deliver faster, more reliable, and predictable services for Late R&I.
  • Initiate and maintain clear communication and integration of key contractors for the Late R&I TA.
  • Coordinate requests for changes to agreements.
  • Onboard new contractors and third party providers.
  • Manage, support, and develop expertise in finance systems: Coupa, AdminDirect Interface, SimplePay, Finance Direct, CyberGrants and others as necessary.
  • Independently and pro-actively resolves issues and challenges relate to support projects and actively searches for continuous improvement in all areas to simplify ways of working.
  • Ensure compliance and proactively stay up to date with all AZ finance policy, standards, systems and processes, reporting, required training, Workday information and expense management.


Essential Requirements


  • Mandatory experience: Coupa and Concur Super User with experience setting up vendor agreements and purchase order set-ups and approval.
  • Confident user of MS Teams, SharePoint Online, MS Office Suite (particularly with MS Excel).
  • Proactive approach with the ability to manage and prioritise multiple requests simultaneously and effectively.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, time management, and good judgement, working to consistently deliver to a high standard.
  • Strong organisational, problem-solving, matrix management, forward-planning and stakeholder management skills.
  • Solid relationship-building skills to develop networks both within the company and externally.
  • Track record of handling and resolving challenges quickly and efficiently, with flexibility to adapt to changing situations.
  • Impeccable professionalism with strong business acumen and organisationally savvy with sensitivity to highly confidential information.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills – Fluent in English.


Preferred Requirements


  • Experience of working in a global organisation; with the ability to work across boundaries and different cultures.
  • Project management experience.
  • Smartsheet.
  • Finance or accounting experience.
