Accelerating sales growth and substantially increased revenues characterize the business performance of Düsseldorf-based Rheinmetall AG in the first half of 2024. Business with the armed forces of Germany and partner nations in the EU and NATO along with assistance to Ukraine continue to significantly improve business performance. Sales in the civilian business also improved slightly from the previous year. With demand consistently high, the market situation in the defence industry continues to grow. The Group also saw noticeable improvement in operating free cash flow. Group management is confirming its current guidance for the Group´s sales growth and operating result margin based on the current market situation, a continuously excellent order situation and the business performance expected in the second half of the financial year. Armin Papperger, CEO of Rheinmetall AG, said of the company’s performance, “The supercycle is clearly accelerating. In the second quarter of 2024 alone, our sales increased around 50 percent and our result more than doubled. Positive margin effects are significantly increasing our profitability. With positive development in all areas, we are well on our way to reaching our annual targets.” “We have never seen such growth. We also expect annual sales growth of around two billion euros in the coming years. This very positive development is only possible because we invested early and have been following a strategic plan since 2014 – when Crimea was invaded. We massively expanded capacities, made acquisitions and are now also additionally building new plants in countries like Lithuania, Hungary, Romania and Ukraine. Forward-looking partnerships in key markets are also bringing us closer to our goal of becoming a global defence industry champion,” Papperger added.    Rheinmetall Group: Strong sales growth of 33% – Rheinmetall Nomination more than doubles Group sales in the first half year of 2024 climbed noticeably from the previous year by €955 million or 33% to €3,815 million (previous year: €2,861 million). Adjusted for currency effects, sales were around 34% higher than in the previous year, with 76% of sales coming from outside Germany. Operating result as of June 30, 2024 amounted to €404 million, an increase of €192 million, or 91% from the previous year’s €212 million. In addition to sales growth, the improvement in operating result is particularly due to the profit contribution of Rheinmetall Expal Munitions in Spain, which was acquired in the previous year. The Group's operating margin improved in th first half year of 2024 to 10.6% (previous year: 7.4 %). Read more... https://lnkd.in/eVSj72k3 #Rheinmetall #FinancialReport #Finance

Rheinmetall is to expand its plant engineering portfolio by acquiring a majority stake in the business of Resonant Holdings (Pty) Ltd, a leading South African specialist in plant engineering for chemical applications. An agreement to this effect has now been signed. Rheinmetall Waffe Munition GmbH will hold 51% of the shares in a newly formed joint venture Rheinmetall Resonant South Africa, and the current Resonant Holding shareholders will possess the remaining 49%. The company to be founded expects an annual sales potential of more than EUR 100 million. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price. The transaction and the final company name are still subject to customary regulatory approvals. The planned acquisition is Rheinmetall's response to the growing global demand in the ammunition sector and the resulting customer requirements for the construction of corresponding production facilities. Rheinmetall is therefore significantly expanding its existing capabilities in ammunition production by vertically integrating further competences, thus positioning itself even more robustly for the independent planning, construction and operation of production facilities for the manufacture of chemical products such as propellant powder and explosives. Resonant Holdings employs around 150 people and brings proven experience and outstanding expertise in designing and constructing specialised plants. This includes production facilities for chemical and explosives products. Resonant's leading expertise complements Rheinmetall's plant engineering capabilities, particularly in the fields of chemical, energetic, and explosives technology, industrialization, and manufacturing. This expands Rheinmetall's ability to offer a comprehensive range of services, including the design, construction and commissioning of state-of-the-art plants tailored to the specific needs of our global partners. At the same time, the partnership offers Resonant a strong global reach, industry expansion and access to new markets. The combined expertise of both entities will drive innovation and efficiency, delivering unparalleled value to customers. Rheinmetall aims to preserve the company’s existing technology and workforce. The planned acquisition of Resonant Holdings underscores Rheinmetall's dedication to expanding its technological capabilities and delivering state-of-the-art solutions to its partners. This strategic acquisition of the controlling stake ensures that Rheinmetall remains at the forefront of innovation in the engineering and defence industries, providing unparalleled expertise and comprehensive solutions. https://lnkd.in/eq_rsYsE #Rheinmetall

The Spanish Army has signed a framework agreement with Rheinmetall to supply around half a million modular propellant systems for 155mm extended-range artillery ammunition. The order is worth up to €205 million and is scheduled for delivery from mid-2024 to the end of 2025. It was booked in July 2024. The order includes an extension option for a further two years, which could significantly increase its value. Against the backdrop of the Russian attack on Ukraine, the Spanish army also intends to replenish its ammunition stocks. In this context, the procurement of propellant charge systems for the M109 and SIAC 155mm calibre howitzers is taking place. The current contract signing is one of several orders placed by the Spanish army this year. In April 2024, Rheinmetall announced that the Group had received an order to supply mortar shells in the high double-digit million euro range. In March 2024, Rheinmetall received an order to supply 155mm artillery ammunition worth over €200 million by the end of 2025. Rheinmetall is one of the world's leading manufacturers of large-calibre ammunition and propellant systems. In modern artillery, projectiles and propelling charges are loaded separately in order to achieve different ranges. https://lnkd.in/e3vA-aTr #Rheinmetall

On 29 July 2024 Rheinmetall celebrated the official takeover of its new state-of-the-art 30mm ammunition factory in Várpalota, Hungary. The ceremony took place in presence of the Hungarian Minister of Defence Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky and the CEO of Rheinmetall AG, Armin Papperger. The new production facility in Várpalota is a significant milestone in Rheinmetall’s expansion strategy. It underlines the company’s commitment in providing up-to-date technologies to support the defence capabilities of its partners. The factory is designed to produce 30mm ammunition for the KF41 Lynx infantry fighting vehicle (IFV), which will be built in Zalaegerszeg and delivered to the Hungarian armed forces. The Várpalota factory will start production in October 2024. Furthermore, ammunition for battle tanks and artillery as well as igniters will be among the products manufactured in Várpalota in a second phase. In the final expansion stage, the company site will cover a total of around 150 hectares. In his opening speech, Armin Papperger highlighted the importance of the new factory for Rheinmetall and the site in Hungary: “The opening of this state-of-the-art ammunition factory in Várpalota is a clear signal to our commitment concerning innovation and quality. This facility will not only strengthen the defence capabilities of our global partners and in Hungary, but will also contribute to the economic development of the region.” In his address, Hungarian Defence Minister Szalay-Bobrovniczky emphasised the strategic importance of the cooperation with Rheinmetall, and stressed the joint efforts in strengthening the national security and defence industry. The new factory in Várpalota is equipped with the latest technology and will create more than 200 jobs in the region, making an important contribution to the local economy. The establishment of the Lynx IFV and other Lynx models also strengthens the development of the Hungarian defence industry. Rheinmetall is thus continuing its tradition of contributing to global security through technological innovation and close partnerships. https://lnkd.in/erUtDEWz #RheinmetallHungary #Várpalota

At a ceremony on 24 July 2024, Rheinmetall handed over the first KF41 Lynx infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) produced at the Zalaegerszeg site in Hungary to the Hungarian armed forces. On behalf of the Hungarian government, Defence Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky attended the handover. Dr Björn Bernhard (Head of Rheinmetall Vehicle Systems Europe) and Paul Walf (CEO Rheinmetall Hungary) welcomed the guests on behalf of Rheinmetall. The first Lynx from Hungarian production was already completed in December 2023. Following extensive functional inspections as well as performance and quality acceptances, it has now been officially handed over to the Hungarian armed forces. In Zalaegerszeg, Rheinmetall Group operates the world's most modern competence centre for the production of tracked armoured vehicles, in particular the highly innovative Lynx. The factory was opened in August 2023. Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky, Defence Minister of Hungary: “I often say that peace requires strength, which means a lot of kinds of strength, and in this regard, we have gained real and serious strength with Rheinmetall and in this alliance, which significantly enriches Hungary. This is a kind of strategic partnership that is more than strategy or partnership – this is a real alliance, and within this framework, we hope to win the future for Hungarians, and we’re building something that will remain for the next generations, and we’re strengthening Hungary.” Dr Björn Bernhard, Head of Rheinmetall Vehicle Systems Europe: “We are grateful to be able to support the Hungarian armed forces as an industrial partner in the Lynx lighthouse project. We have now reached an important milestone within the project. With the production of the Lynx, we are seriously proving our commitment in creating local added value in Hungary and transferring technology to the country. This model is also transferable to other countries which might also be interested in similar partnerships”. In August 2020, the Hungarian Ministry of Defence commissioned the Rheinmetall Group to supply combat vehicles and associated services worth over €2bn as part of its “Zrínyi 2026” initiative. A total of 209 Lynx KF41s are to be supplied to the Hungarian armed forces in seven variants: IFV, command post vehicle, armoured reconnaissance vehicle, fire control vehicle, mortar carrier, medical vehicle and driving school vehicle. A Lynx air defence tank with a Skyranger 30 turret is also in progress as part of another development contract, placed in December 2023. The Düsseldorf-based technology group Rheinmetall has been commissioned by the Swiss Confederation to manufacture and supply 81mm mortar cargo ammunition. The total value of the order is in the mid double-digit million euro range. The entire scope of supply comprises 81mm MX2-KM mortar weapons from Rheinmetall EXPAL Munitions SA as well as 81mm mortar cartridges Cargo for illumination white light, illumination infrared and smoke discharge based on RP (Red Phospor), which are manufactured by Rheinmetall Waffe Munition GmbH at the Neuenburg am Rhein plant. The delivery is scheduled to be completed by 2025 and includes various additional services as part of the product launch. The cartridges are qualified for the MX2-KM mortar of the Swiss armed forces and, together with the weapon system, form a mortar system in which both the ammunition and the weapon system are manufactured by Rheinmetall. At the end of the qualification measures, the cargo cartridges were verified at a test site on the Spanish coast. The order underscores Rheinmetall's expertise in the production of state-of-the-art steep-fire mortar ammunition. https://lnkd.in/eCaaRX52 #Rheinmetall

Today you can read what Sabine Weber experienced as a founding member and today being part of the core team of women@Rheinmetall. Sabine Weber, Director of Global Project Purchasing at the Power Systems division, was one of the community’s first members. Following an interview on women’s empowerment, she was asked if she would like to get involved in the women’s community – “and so I became a founding member,” she says. The more we achieved, the more seriously they took our network. We still have a long way to go, but it’s wonderful to see how a handful of women can get so many balls rolling.” A goal for the next level: Be more international. This is an area where Sabine Weber is actively involved on account of her role at Rheinmetall locations all over the world. “I recently took advantage of a business trip to India to speak to the female personnel at Rheinmetall Automotive’s site in Pune as an ambassador for our network. It is important to me to speak to women at other sites and to encourage them to start up local projects that we in the core team can manage and support remotely.” Find out more about our shapers of change: https://lnkd.in/dmkGqfCK More insights into our women@Rheinmetall network: https://lnkd.in/eh_yty-s #womenatrheinmetall #rheinmetall #career #femaleempowerment #diversity
