Happy Birthday, liebi Schwiiz! ❤️ 🤍 Happy Birthday, Switzerland! 🎉    In honour of our Swiss National Day, SWISS treats its guests to the traditional buns, lovingly known in Switzerland as "1st August Weggen”. The delights are produced by Bertschi bakery, located just a doorstep away from Zurich Airport. Our Cabin Crew Member Jana had the privilege of joining the bakers to witness the artistry firsthand.    Every year as July draws to a close, baker Mark Dingler brings out a unique Swiss cross cutter, manually shaping 50,000 crosses to decorate the buns. But not only the outside, also the inside is full of Swissness, including only local ingredients like a massive block of regional butter, which he proudly incorporates into the dough.    These special buns are given out today to our guests on short-haul flights in SWISS Business and to guests in all classes on outgoing long-haul flights from Zurich. Discover the craftsmanship that go into creating the “1st August Weggen” – a cherished Swiss tradition we are delighted to share with our guests. ✈ 🥖

SWISS reports solid first-half earnings of CHF 264 million ✈ SWISS reports a solid operating result (Adjusted EBIT) of CHF 264.2 million for the first six months of 2024. The result represents a decline of some 22 per cent from the record CHF 338.3 million achieved for the same period last year. Total revenues for January to June 2024 amounted to CHF 2.7 billion, a 5.5-per-cent increase on the CHF 2.5 billion of the prior-year period.   "The market trend back to more normal conditions that we saw in the first quarter of this year has continued faster than we originally expected," says SWISS Chief Financial Officer Dennis Weber. "People’s desire to travel remains high, which we are very pleased about. But a number of airlines have now restored their production capacities to pre-corona volumes, and in some cases even higher. This has tangibly intensified competition; and this in turn has depressed yields below their prior-year levels." "Our 2024 first-half earnings confirm to us that we have set the right course to deliver a good full-year operating result," says Heike Birlenbach, SWISS’s Interim Chief Executive Officer. "It’s investing in our future that has put us on this track. In doing so, though, we are well aware that our customers’ needs and the general market situation have changed over the past few years. And it’s with this in mind that we continue to work intensively to further enhance the SWISS travel experience. At the same time, maintaining stable flight operations and offering an attractive network of routes and schedules remain further key priorities." 🌏 In addition to a solid result in the second quarter, SWISS carried 8.5 million passengers in the first six months of 2024. 🏆 Our hangar became a soccer field ⚽️ We swapped our work clothes 👨🏭 for jerseys 👕 and our toolboxes 🛠 for footballs ⚽️ as we hosted our traditional football tournament in our hangar! It was incredible to see teams from different departments lace up and compete with such enthusiasm and team spirit. 💪 From spectacular goals to nail-biting penalties, every moment was filled with energy and camaraderie! 🌟 Events like these remind us why SWISS is more than just a workplace; it's a community where passion and teamwork thrive both on and off the field. 🤝 A sincere thank you to everyone who participated and supported their colleagues – your involvement made this event truly special! ⚽️ 🎬 Nali Creations

Summertime is travel time! 🌞 🏖   This is the busiest time of the year at Zurich and Geneva airports. We have been making extensive preparations for this year’s peak travel season. You can play your part, too, in ensuring a smooth travel experience. Here are some tips: 📱 Download the SWISS app. You will then receive push messages directly to your phone on any change of your flight’s departure gate or any delay. 🎫 Check in for your flight online before leaving home. The online check-in service can be used within 24 hours of departure via SWISS app or swiss.com. 🛄 Check your registered baggage in at the airport the evening before your flight, make use of the AirPortr service or check in at one of the departure airport’s self-bag-drop machines. 👜 Make your carry-on baggage as light and easy-to-handle as possible. 💊 Be sure to put personal items such as valuables, passport and any medicines in your carry-on baggage, along with any devices such as mobile phones, tablets, power banks or e-cigarettes. ⏲ Check on the latest status of your flight and for any schedule changes on swiss.com before leaving for the airport. 👮♀ Allow sufficient time for check-in, security and passport control at the airport. We wish you all a great summer with the smoothest possible travel experience! 🛫 😎
