▶️ 1 Million Views and Counting! ⚡SOLshare’s solar P2P microgrid solution, the SOLgrid featured in the film titled ‘2040’ was viewed 1 million times on Facebook and over 2 million times on Instagram! More power to decentralization and democratization of energy! 🌱 "2040," originally a Regenerator film by award-winning Australian director Damon Gameau, envisions a world transformed by the widespread implementation of the best available solutions to the climate crisis, aimed at regenerating the planet for future generations. 💡The documentary-style film highlights SOLshare's innovative renewable energy solution, the SOLgrid. Neel Tamhane, former Product Manager at SOLshare, explains how the company created a decentralized energy network by linking solar home systems across rural Bangladesh. This network enables people to generate and trade their own electricity with their neighbors, interconnecting hundreds of these systems, essentially forming a microgrid bottom-up, independent of the utility grid and capable of selling electricity back to it. In doing so, the people become prosumers, with the agency to produce and trade their own electricity in a decentralized structure. Currently, two of our SOLgrids are powering one hundred households in the Rohingya Refugee Camps of Teknaf, Bangladesh and providing the vulnerable community with undisrupted energy access. We are currently leading the technical aspects of SOLgrid installations in sub-Saharan African countries, as part of an international consortium headed by MicroEnergy International and funded by the EU's CINEA. This initiative will improve energy access and drive energy transformation for last-mile communities in Tanzania and Rwanda. 🙏🏻 We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to IDCOL, the catalyst behind the solar home system program in Bangladesh as well as to Grameen Shakti, among many other pioneers whose off-grid access initiatives have laid a robust foundation of over 6 million SHS, enabling us to establish our decentralized network across the country.
