We’ve acquired WeTransfer! Bending Spoons is the new owner of the beloved brand and digital file-sharing and collaboration platform that powers 2 billion file transfers by 80 million active users each month. “When the possibility of acquiring WeTransfer presented itself, we moved swiftly to make it happen. There's so much about WeTransfer that impresses us. First and foremost, it's a terrific product that solves a real, widespread need—and does so better than most competitors. This provides a solid foundation to build upon, with plenty of potential to enhance WeTransfer's usefulness even further. Additionally, the brand is extremely strong, particularly among creatives, which is no small achievement and offers great promise for the future.” —Luca Ferrari We appreciate the commitment the WeTransfer team has made to social responsibility and the creative community, and we want to carry the torch. Therefore, we’ve pledged to donate at least $3 million to The Supporting Act Foundation over the next two years. The Foundation’s mission is to support emerging artists and artist-led groups from under-represented communities. We’ve also pledged to continue reserving 30% of WeTransfer’s advertising space to give-back campaigns and editorial content for the foreseeable future. Additionally, WePresent will keep showcasing the work of deserving creators, including emerging artists. This is our largest acquisition to date and we can’t wait to get our hands dirty—with technology, product, and marketing—to make WeTransfer even more successful going forward.

After three years working on Remini, I'm transitioning to an exciting new Bending Spoons project. 🤐 I'm proud of what we've accomplished in the last three years and look forward to what comes next! 💙 When we began our efforts on Remini in 2021, we knew it had a lot of potential. At the time, several secondary features were making it difficult for users to discover and enjoy the app’s most innovative feature: AI Photo Enhance. So we removed these features and focused all our energy on building the best possible version of AI Photo Enhance. By late 2022, Remini had transformed into the go-to AI photo enhancement app for millions of users. But we didn’t stop there: Today, Remini doesn’t just enhance photos with AI, but leverages AI to ✨generate✨ ”photos” too. Thanks to our extensive product work and powerful in-house AI technology, we grew Remini to more than 100 million monthly active users. And we gave them all the power to see themselves like never before with fun, nostalgic, and (at times) adorable AI photos, filters, and videos. I'm leaving the Remini team confident that there's still plenty of success to achieve, and excited to see how the product continues to evolve. Now, on to the next great adventure. 🚀

Better late than never...... I'm pleased to share Evernote's visual identity 🎉 I worked on it last year teaming up with Filippo Donisi, and with the contribution of other amazing designer colleagues from Bending Spoons: Alessandro Verardo, Diego Collo and Marco Martina. ------ We didn't touch the iconic 🐘 logo, but completely overhauled the visual language introducing new fonts, an updated palette and playful shapes. Our shapes are versatile and can have several layers of meaning: they symbolize the ideas and concepts you organize with the help of Evernote, but also how every user is different, and Evernote can be tailored to cater to anyone. Shapes are also the base element of our brand new illustration system; they can turn into anything you want, characters or objects, with the help of just a few scribbled lines. Consider us blown away! Earlier this year, we opened applications for the second edition of the Bending Spoons Women in Computer Science scholarship. The talent and passion on display from the applicants was so high that selecting just 20 recipients proved difficult. Too difficult. So, in addition to 20 recipients of the €5,000 scholarship, we're awarding €1,000 to 50 other impressive applicants. And to all the applicants, whether or not you received a scholarship this time around, your passion for a career in STEM is inspiring. Keep at it!

Here’s how we discovered twice as many people would use this core Evernote feature… The Evernote team recently took on the challenge of redesigning the mobile app experience. No small task when you consider all the integral features fighting for limited real estate. Evernote product manager, Cristina Filippi, takes up the story: "The new navbar on Evernote mobile helps users navigate around the app quickly, so it’s vital we’re directing users to the most important parts. Four of the five positions were no-brainers. But the last spot was closely contested between Notebooks and Shortcuts, with many users expressing strong preferences for one or the other. So we released an update in which one group of users saw Shortcuts, while the other saw Notebooks. Based on the initial qualitative feedback we’d received, we expected a tie. Turns out, that assumption was totally wrong… 💥 Users who saw Notebooks were TWICE as likely to access the feature compared to those who saw Shortcuts in the same position. 💥 With these results in mind, we went ahead and released a final interface that included Notebooks as the default option for all users. But we also introduced a setting that would mean people could switch to Shortcuts if they preferred. Curiously, we saw that... - 0.2% of users actively switched their navbar to contain Shortcuts - Of those who did, 25% eventually switched back to Notebooks In short, the data clearly showed that setting Notebooks as the default was indeed the best decision. But it wasn’t the close-run thing that we’d anticipated. This is why we make sure to listen closely to both user input and data—it meant we were able to make the final decision with certainty."

Seeing the target makes it easier to hit the bullseye. 🎯 We share with everyone in the company a document with the attributes that make for a great Spooner. It's titled "A Great Spooner"(imaginative, we know). Now, we've chosen to publish it on our website and share it with our followers. It's a short document. Some may find it too simplistic, overly idealistic, or just plain unrealistic. We get that—it's definitely not for everyone. But if you're driven to excel and would like a little guidance on where to direct your focus, you might appreciate it. Here it is: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/d7xcvhf7
